Vietnam 65 unbiased comment

It is 1965 and the US ground war in Vietnam is in full swing. As a US Army commander, wage a counter-insurgency (COIN) war to secure the Ia Drang valley, on the border with Cambodia.

I love this thread! kayeldee goes from comparing this game to a trip to the dentist to finding it the most compelling thing in his mind in a matter of days.

That is the sign of a good, deep game. You just can't get a full impression of a game without spending some time with it. Well done, Chippit and Vietnam65!

Thanks ! You really have to invest a bit of time to get the nuances of the design, some people tend to give it 30 min then judge it

whenever I run a resup mission in the field. the chopper ALWAYS picks up the new supplies back at HQ instead of the FB as it used to...someone tell me why it does that??

With a supply mission, the Helo picks up supplies from the nearest base then proceeds to the unit to be resupplied, should not always go to HQ?

More specifically, the helo will collect supplies from whichever base will make the total mission length (to base then to unit) the shortest. You can always override this by selecting a base yourself instead of a unit, if it doesn't go to where you want.

I tend to split up my home bases for my choppers depending on the map terrain, that way I tend to find resupply missions easier. It would be nice if art resupply can also work in the same way? :)

it doesnt do that...i choose a chopperr AT the FB and the unit in need is fairly close, and the chopper will go to the HQ to p/u supplies...its really quite annoying...

The only time that would happen is if you are selecting the ammo supply button, not the crate button ?

Have a check of the Intel screen and look for NVA Bases each cost you 250pp (from memory) per turn which might explain why you are losing PP per turn, at which point its time to send the troops back out into the boonies

play the tutorials and learn how to play, then it's easier on normal and hard on veteran, but mostly the same, fun mind you, once it's mastered

good luck
