Round 2 result
batesmotel (Imperialists) 13% beat vadim84 (Bohemian Revolt) 41%
The early Tercios on the Bohemian left flank collapsed all at once in a spectacular manor versus the shooting and melee of the Imperial later tercios which pretty much doomed the Bohemians. The Imperial left flank was collapsing when the game ended but not quickly enough. Thanks for the game.

Re: Pike & Shot Caracole Tournament Thread
Scrolled till page 17 to found my other opponent s name but didnt see the result -well, ok m bragging but hey m ina losing streak now :-p - of my first game against batesmotel, a victory of my Convenanters against his new model army. His cav beated mine (scottish knights sounds cool but sooo weak...) but then went for a musket vs musket battle, I had more units and ultimately won.
Ended up 1-1 , each of us won the game he chosed, which is the usual configuration and shows that we may have to rethink the forma-although it is the most practical one. How? maybe by switching side, but then who decide the armies ? if it is the organizers m affraid its a lot of work
Tullius, i will set our game later on tonight, I m thinking about Imperial/Spanish VS French on Italian wars, never tried the Spanish and they look cool (thks Moncholee)
Password will be : tullius ( m following the trend) Will be rather slow to play after the 23 , wont play at all from the 27 to january 4/5, just to let you (n other opponents) know

Iosef French beated my Spanish again, this time on an Italian Wars setting. He had to work his win a little harder this time but nothing he couldn´t overcome

R3 result
flatsix518 (Italian 1494-1530 ) won vs tiopepe (French 1494-1525).
The Italians opened the battle with a furious and accurate bombardment of the French cavalry that fairly quickly routed two Gendarmes. This significantly increased the Italians initial cavalry advantage. The French gamely came on with their pikes but eventually were outmaneuvered and taken from the rear. Good game.

Looking Ahead
All,
My intention for winding up the Caracole was to see how many points participants had scored and to determine winners. The only players to engage in Round 4 would be "tie breakers" to decide the top three positions (Gold, Silver, Bronze).
We should be able to determine these contenders today or tomorrow based upon current results. So I expect to post Round 4 today and tomorrow.
I have been hoping that by the end of the Caracole tournament we could have a lively discussion of ways to improve it. This discussion has already started at:
viewtopic.php?f=299&t=54947
I encourage everyone who has played in the tournament to chime in here on their ideas. After the holidays, I will try to synthesize the best proposals (in terms of merit or support) and post an on-line poll to choose the final ones to go forward.
Best regards and happy holidays,
John

All,
Results posted to here...
100% of R1 games complete!!!!
43 of 45 R2 games complete. (I think the only guys still playing R2 are batesmotel and TheGreyHunter).
22 R3 games complete.
John
I corrected an error in iandavidsmith's score. Everyone, as you wrap the tournament up -- check to see if your results are correct. If you report an error, I'll investigate and correct the record, if appropriate.

Tournament Podium - Round 4 Matchups !!!
All,
Enough of the tournament games have been completed to determine three undisputed podium finishers. They are:
Aryaman
pantherboy
rbodleyscott
First off, congratulations to all three. Even with the completion of the rest of the games, no one else can make up the points to challenge the podium.
So Round 4 will be a playoff among these three players to secure gold, silver and bronze finishing positions.
Each player should issue challenges to the other two and play their games.
Good luck to all of you.

Post-Mortem Discussion
All,
Again, I'd like to direct everyone's attention to the Post-Mortem discussion. Only a few people have commented -- I'm hoping for more.
A consolidated list of topics, their state of discussion and my inputs are at: viewtopic.php?f=299&t=54947&p=512249#p512249
I encourage everyone with an interest in the tournament to comment. Also -- do not feel the only topics to be discussed are these. If you feel strongly about another topic/issue, feel free to bring it up -- I'll add it to the list.

All,
As everyone wraps up their games, I'll start posting final finishing positions.
pantherboy, rbodleyscott, and aryaman are fighting for positions 1-3.
Positions 4 thru last will be determined by points scored by other participants in their three rounds of play.
Best regards,
John
