Pike & Shot Caracole Tournament Thread
Caracole Tournament Organization
1. Any number of players can participate (prefer minimum of 7).
2. Initial Setup:
a. Once signup is closed, players will be placed in a randomized, ordered list and matchups determined by a simple algorithm.
b. There will be three initial rotations. In each rotation, players will play against two other players organized so that players will not encounter each other more than once in the first 3 rotations.
3. In each rotation, all players will have four games (two against each opponent). In two of the games, one player will pose the challenge; in the other two games the player accepts their opponents’ challenges.
4. Challenge construction: A player creates a skirmish game challenge from any period available in Pike & Shot. Requirements for this challenge are as follows:
Change Campaign… Select any of Thirty Years War, English Civil War or Italian Wars
Scenario Type: Open Battle
Force Size: Medium
Map Size: Medium
First Player Side: <Any>
Army List (xxx): <Any>
Army List (xxx): <Any>
Filter Army List: On
Force Selection: Player
Note – Filter Selection setting must be “On”!
Note – Advance settings must be left on default!
Note – Include a password
Note – It can be helpful to include a comment like “Challenge for PlayerA”
5. Announce Challenge: Announce when your challenge is up on this thread. Include password or send password by PM to your opponent.
6. Reporting of Results: Post results to this thread in the following format.
PlayerA (Army Name) won vs PlayerB (Army Name)
<optional write up describing battle>
Here’s an example
iversonjm (Parliamentarian 1642-1643) won vs flatsix518 (Royalist 1642-1643)
I clubbed flatsix like a baby seal. Wasn’t even close.
7. Winning:
a. Players will receive one point for each game won, 0.5 points for each game drawn and zero points for each game lost.
b. At the end of three rounds, the player with the greatest number of points wins.
c. If two or more players are tied, I’ll organize additional rotations until the ties are broken. Rematches between players may occur during these additional rounds.
8. Tempo of Play: It is expected that all players will make at least one move a day in each of their on-going four games. Anyone who cannot sustain that pace should not sign up. If your opponent is neglecting to do this, please PM me and I’ll try to nudge on your dawdler.
a. Note: Given that once players are done dancing around and are “stuck in” the computer is making most of the move – one move per day per game is a pretty reasonable standard.
b. Note: Games will probably wrap up faster than three weeks. As players free up their games, I will announce the next rotation and let those players get going. Generally expect to be only playing four games at a time, but it might be possible that you’re still tied up in one or two when the next full rotation is announced. Don’t dawdle. We aren’t going to wait until all games complete in one rotation to start another.
9. Player conduct:
a. All players should be mostly self-managing. That is, post your challenges, accept your challenges, and play at a reasonable pace. Complete the game to conclusion.
b. Rude behavior, name calling, offensive postings will not be tolerated. Anyone who engages in such behavior will have his or her results deleted. And I’ll drop them in my personal oublier.

Re: Pike & Shot Caracole Tournament Thread
Perhaps it will be good to freeze any battle if a flank march happen.

I'm not sure what you mean by "freeze any battle".
