New Player Matches -- Important!!!

Post by flatsix518 »

Iosef and Moncholee -- please matchup to replace your games vs greyhunter.

aryaman and deadtorius -- please matchup to replace your games vs cromlechi

Finally -- batesmotel and tullius -- are you guys still alive? You're the only players (other than cromlechi and greyhunter) to not have reported R2 results.

Best regards,

John

2nd Round match:

Hrothgar [Poles] wins [35%]vs Tullius [German Protestants] [62%]

Hard-fought game, as Tullius's cavalry--on a hill--did considerable damage to my hussars. However, enough survived and eventually prevailed, and my tercio, on another hill and supported stoutly by several haiduk regiments, stood up to the Protestant onslaught while the surviving hussars wrought havoc in the German rear. Closer than the score makes it seem. Great game, Tullius!

flatsix--note above, Tullius is still playing. I expect our other game to conclude soon.

As for my first round game vs greyhunter, I've received no response from him for quite some time.

flatsix,

I looked back at my completed games and found that I had missed the ending of my second game vs greyhunter. I guess it ended on his turn, so it wasn't in the list of games being played when I opened "Multiplayer." Don't know why greyhunter didn't post the results, but here they are:

greyhunter [New Model Army] wins [59%] vs Hrothgar [Scots Covenanters][61%]

As I recall, the cavalry on my left refused to stand up to the Cromwellian cavalry, resulting in a significant lead for the NMA. My infantry put up a much better fight, but they had too much ground to recover and fell just short at the end. Closest result I've had so far--hard to believe it will be equaled, let alone surpassed. Thrilling game, despite the loss.

Rd 3 Result:

rbodleyscott (Catholic League 1619-1632) won vs Vadim84 (Bohemian Revolt 1618-1619) (45% to 62%)

A very exciting and close fought game. The Catholic foot were all put to flight except for one veteran Early Tercio. Meanwhile the Catholic horse defeated the Bohemian horse.

Greyhunter -- welcome back -- I hear you're still alive.

Iosef and Moncholee -- keep playing your games and games vs Greyhunter. I'll figure out what to do in terms of scoring when you report results.

Slow Moving

Post by flatsix518 »

All,

I am going thru upgrade hell with my Mac this weekend. The upgrade also broke the virtual machine I use to run Windows and play Slithering games.

Sooo...I'll be slow on making my moves in my Pike & Shot games.

I'll be slow on catching up Caracole results.

I also am getting ready to play a tabletop game tomorrow -- after a three year layoff from TT gaming.

So, I'm a little busy.

Best,

John

Another hard fought battle against Tullius.

My Swedes won [35%] vs Tullius German Protestants [62%]

The lead changed hands, with the German cavalry initially succeeding on both flanks. However, one kurassier unit chased one of my units off map, which opened up some possibilities for action on my right. I was able to hit his flank and rear, while his victorious cavalry on my left was tied up with pursuits and separated from my infantry by a large wood. Things went better than I deserved, and the German line fell apart. Good game, Tullius.

challenge created for rbodleyscott, late french (me) against your late spanish 30 YW army. pass is caracole. I did hesitate to just switch our previous armies but didnt play the french for a while, sort of missing them. And spanish are tough to beat, looks promising. Last game was closer than what I thought after my cav. disaster in the first rounds, great game indeed.
