Aryaman (German Catholic 1639-48) 0% vs Cavehobbit (Swedish 1635-48) 0%

Some initial manoeuvring to form lines, then neither side wanted to attack. In the last 2-3 turns some cavalry units fought, but no unit on either side routed.

Technically the game will have reported the second player as the winner (because the engine does not allow draws, if there has to be a winner in these circumstances it makes sense that the challengee should win if the challenger does him no damage), but of course it is really a draw.

One of my intended post-mortem topics for discussion are "tournament draws". I think they should be allowed -- but no rules were prescribed for this tournament. So this game may have to be accepted as a win/loss. I'm OK with it being a draw if both involved players agree to that.

Next tournament we should determine if we want tournament draws and if we do what is allowed/prescribed.

I think it's good if a game can end in a draw. Having played BA for a couple of years I know the game engine does not allow draws, so I was curious what result we would get in this battle. Here night fell and we got a message telling us that neither side had won, but one side would move away and the other side would stay and control the field (I'm sure RBS could give us some more details about the message we got  ).

For future tournaments I think it's fine to allow games to end in a draw if neither side have reached either of the routing objects. At least if it's a skirmish battle tournament. In scenarios I'm sure they could be scripted to end in a draw (at least I'm using this option in my BA/BA2 scenarios).

So who won in your game? Or do you and Aryaman want to claim a draw?

I'm happy with a draw as neither of us actually won.

OK -- I'll leave it that way.

Next tournament we'll lay out some rules for declaring draws.

moncholee (Spanish 1635-1648) 57% to triarius (French 1643-1648) 62%

A truly chaotic and epic battle which saw both armies turn 180 degrees around a forest and be at the verge of routing for some turns (53% to 57%). I finally got luckier.
