Re: CTD after a few minutes
I agree, it seems the issue is related with the audio.
Open the game main installation folder (Default: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Commander The Great War): Locate and open the following subfolder:
\_CommonRedist\OpenAL\2.0.7.0
Inside that folder you should have a file named oalinst.exe. Please run it.
Run the game and check if the issue persists.

Re: CTD after a few minutes
Try the following:
Run msconfig, disable all background programs and then run the game.
If the issue is resolved, then you can re-enable each program until you find the interfering program.
You can see a tutorial of how to use msconfig below:

Re: CTD after a few minutes
so i do that, start new with all disabled but after one turn ctd:-( my last hope is that patch that will come soon i hope for 1.6
Re: CTD after a few minutes
I'm sorry, but I don't think patch will fix this issue, is this is related with your system and not with the game itself.
Otherwise a lot of people would be experiencing this issue.
I will ask the developer to take a look on this thread maybe he can offer a suggestion.

It's wrong that Elma666 should wait so long for a game good money was paid for to use.Elma666 wrote:Nothing new? No ideas?

Re: CTD after a few minutes
hardware and driver problems are always the worse to fix tbh, as if you can't replicate them, it's even harder to fix, and with some, no matter what you do, software won't fix hardware, unless it's a new driver or update that can get round the problem that causing it, and as the game doesn't also supply drivers etc, not really something that can easily be fixed

but above will help as the above member states, good luckHow to get the ctgw.log file:
If you ever get an error or crash, please attach the ctgw.log file to your report, this will help us identify the problem. It's more useful if the error is during the AI turn, but it would be good for you guys to get used to uploading these logs. The logs are in your Documents, so the default is "My Documents\My Games\Commander The Great War"
Even if you're reporting a bad move by the AI, it would be helpful to see the log as this gives us a much clearer idea of what was going on when the issue occurred.
IMPORTANT: This log is overwritten every time you start the game. Please make a copy of the log after any crash/bug you want to report before reloading the game.
How to get the autosave file:
Autosaves can also be useful, especially if you can repeat the bug from the autosave. These are also in "My Documents\My Games\Commander The Great War\Save"
IMPORTANT: This save file is overwritten every time you press end turn. Please make a copy after any crash/bug you want to report before pressing end turn again.
NOTE: Please put your attachments in a .zip or .rar format, before you upload it here on the forum, if not, it will not upload at all.
If you follow these steps it will make it a lot easier for us finding the problem, fixing it and getting you up and running asap!

Re: CTD after a few minutes
will look at your logs and files now
have you tired the disabling sound advice?
The file ctaud2k.sys is not digitally signed, while not an issue, a updated sound driver may help (Creative SB X-Fi) are slow with drivers as i took out my SB card as i'm on win 8.1
344.75 WHQL is the latest for your video card
do you use any virtual drivers like daemon tools etc? ultra ISO etc? as if you do try disabling them on startup and see if games works with out it

Re: CTD after a few minutes
Like I have said, I suspect it's an audio issue.
Unfortunately, Sound Blaster drivers are prone to issues.
