Sence Patch 1.20, i now tend include more infantry in maps that have alot of close terrain.
I take on full strenght tanks, well any armour with my infantry that are on hills, forests, swamps etc.
Even with the reduced effect of artillery on close terrain targets, all i need to do is reduce entrenchment and suppresse some i hope.
Now with the some what suppressed tank and only entrench of 1, i send in the infantry

99% it's a win with no loss to my infantry and if the armour survives, it has to move.
A tank moves in to kill the unit off, if terrain permets.
I now tend not to move any armour in to close terrain, unless supported by artillery, or mabey to cover a flank attack or extend my ZOC.
I even now move infantry on to close terrain un-supported, even near heavy armour if no near visable artillery is in range.
In the last DLC 1944E i got cought by a heavy flanking by tanks on my artillery units and the near-by tanks were low on fuel to counter their advance. With my flank wide open and relucant to move very low fuel tanks, i placed 2 infantry on close terrain to increse my ZOC and prevent a attack or even annihilation of my exposed units.
