Unfortunately, in some cases it seems so. It doesn't make sense, but I've seen some software helpdesk supporters stating that you need the old versions.
But rezaf will know for sure.

Yes, you need the old Netframe versions as there are applications that still need them.

Just curious, has anyone ever made DCS masks for the stock Italian units?

Nice sig AB. Maybe we should create a blue-red-green modder's flag based on it :)

Adding New units to game

Post by jdarocha »

I am really enjoying Dwights Sprayshop, I have created several new units by adding new skins to existing units on the game as the sprayshop is designed to do.
I am sure this has been answered already, so please excuse my ignorance, when I save a newly painted unit in a folder how do I make it available in the game, in the purchase screen, so I can add it to the current scenario I am playing.
Thanks in advance

Here is the link for downloading the last version of DCS (as of July 12, 3012) and all skins through the middle of May 2012. You may need to update the skins, thumbnails and base icons with masks with those that have been given or offered on the forum since that time. I have no problems getting the mod to work on my computers.

Installing Units

Post by jdarocha »

How do I get my newly camo units to show up in the game itself? I would like to know how to have the unit show up in the game, after I have changed the camo on it.

Either you just overwrite the original gfx using the same names - in this case I'd strongly recommend to make backups of the gfx you change before.

Or you modify the equipment file to use your (skinned) custom gfx files - in this case you just need to backup the equipment.pzdat.
Please see Nico's guide explaining how to mod units in: viewtopic.php?p=291176

Ok, I dug out the source code and released the version with aircraft skinning.
Unfortunately, I don't currently have time to do masks for all the airplanes, so I just included a single proof-of-concept icon.
If anyone has (or is willing to make) aircraft masks, it'd be great if you could share them. If you drop me a PM and/or upload them in this thread, I'll gladly include them in the next DCS release (credit will be given).
Thanks!

The new version includes:
Aircraft skinning
Solid color preview backgrounds
Batch processing (This one works, but is a rough implementation - the application will "stall" if you process a huge batch of icons at once - I'll throw a "Please wait" window in there if I find the time, but I thought I'd better put the version out before I forget about it again.
Just be a little patient and DCS should throw out everything you requested ... eventually.
If it does not, please report back so I can try and fix things.
Have fun.

The download is in the first post, but here's the link again.

Thanks, rezaf.

These are all the masks I made. Only German vanilla planes and I didn't bother with pink, blue or cyan masking. They still look pretty good though.

I will give your new version a spin later this evening. Again, thank you.
