Greek lists: Theban specific
Hi all,
I have just picked up the rules and am waiting for Immortal fire to come out as I wish to do a greek force.
My question is, are the greek lists split donw to specific areas? I am actually wanting to do a Theban force and wondered if there was a Theban list.
Thanks in advance.

The Greek list is all in one but different city states have different options available to them.
As far as I can see from my sneak preview copy of Immortal Fire (long story) there are no specific Theban options. All non Spartan states get the option for one BG of superior hoplites which would be the sacred band in the case of Thebes

Greetings
Thinking about Thebans for a moment, Thebans (as opposed to other Boiotians) fought deep at least at and after Delium but I imagine one can replicate that tactically (with a BG behind?). Boiotian armies would normally have more cavalry than many other states and were slightly earlier using specialised light troops than many (see Thucydides re Delium). Some units from particular states eg epilektoi might be drilled in the 4th century.
Using the 'normal' 250 man per base scale a lot of hoplite battles would be difficult to represent - Delium with its 7,000 hoplites per side for example would only be 4 BGs or so for the hoplites. Presumably (no rules yet) you could multiply up the representation but what happens with missile ranges etc?
I wonder if there are dual armed peltasts ...
Time will tell.

Well the 'normal' scale isn't as such fixed. Because FoG is designed top down and it looks at an army comprising 10-15 battlegroups rather than several battlegroups combined to make an army you would likely have more than 4 BG of hoplites per side and some of light foot and cavalry as well.kustenjaeger wrote: Using the 'normal' 250 man per base scale a lot of hoplite battles would be difficult to represent - Delium with its 7,000 hoplites per side for example would only be 4 BGs or so for the hoplites. That's a good idea. When I get my lists and rules (really soon I hope) I'll have a look at that.GHGAustin wrote:I have a ton of 15mm Greeks already painted (from doing a re-fight of Chaeronaea (sic?) many years ago). I plan to piece together a list soon from the various Greek units detailed in the Rise of Rome book. I mean, hoplites (in Pyhrric list), peltasts, psiloi, and light horse. Should be pretty easy.
