Restricted aera ???

Post by LEmpereur »

Page 80, We can read : "Alternatively, any BG capable of doing so can move straight back perpendicular to its onw rear. A BG in the restricted area of ennemy even partly behing its rear can move straight forward. These moves are permitted even if the BG ends its move no longer in front of the ennemy BG."

must We understand :
1/ BG with ennemy on is rear can go forward and finish out side of the front of this ennemy!
2/ BG can move backward 2 MU max!
3/ LH or LF can make half turn and go forward and finish out side of the front of this ennemy!

We agreed with the 2 first, but not sure understanding the last interpretation, Our english is not enought good!

Thanks for help!

for 3, if by half turn you mean 180 degrees and then move without wheeling ending no longer in front I would agree you can.

So yes to all three IMO.

I can only bet that his English is better than my French. I did French at school, and can only remember how to say 'Do you speak French'... which is a totally stupid question. So, I go to the middle of Paris and say 'Parlay voo Fron say?' and then the person thinks 'oh, they speak bad French. I'll just speak French to them' and I'm totally lost because that's pretty much the only French I speak... except of course 'err, derr, trah, catra' - at least I'd be able to order 4 croissants.

Hi Ravenflight,

I said that to "Lempereur ", not to any english speaker, it would a shame for me if I criticize anybody for his fluence in any language, apart perhaps when I joke with "Lempereur" who is always ready to mock me about my english speaking when we are in Britcon

all my apologises to all the people who took the content of my message for them ( except "Lempereur" :wink: );

Best regards

Oh, no offense taken. I was just saying that his (and your) English is better than my French... which just goes to show how bad my French is (ooh, that was below the belt).

That said, can you French types improve my French somewhat... I'm taking Louis XIV to CanCon, and I'm wanting to get the terminology right for my regiments.

I've got Regiment Clare O'Brien, le Garde Francoise, Regiment du Nivernais, le Garde du Suisse, Regiment du Hainaut, Regiment du Orleans (mounted if that makes any difference), Regiment du Anjou and le Maisons du Roi. I'll even try to put on a French accent when I say the names if you like... well, actually you probably wouldn't like... it would sound something like "Lee Gardee Doo Sooisss - of course I am French... why else would I have dis outrageous accent"

Seriously though, if you wouldn't mind clarifying the spelling and syntax of those regiments I would be eternally grateful, and guarantee losing to you in combat if we ever meet (the last bit not really payment, just an aside fact)

If Our new translator is better than the dead one, and if We understand correctly what you ask... Try this words :
Régiment Clare O'Brien, La Garde Française, Régiment du Nivernais, La Garde Suisse, Régiment du Hainaut, Régiment d’Orléans, Régiment d'Anjou et La Maisons du Roi

on Google translator: http://translate.google.fr/#en/fr/R%C3% ... 20du%20Roi

and click on the right speaker icon for french accent from a women

On the left speaker icon, the man say it with the english accent!

We prefer french women...

If I ever come to France, it will be in the company of my beautiful wife... and all I will say to French women is 'one room please, for me and my beautiful wife'... possibly in unrecognisable French out of a phrasebook :)

Hello Misseiur Empereur,

My wife was NOT in the room, but when I read out our banter she laughed heartily.

Thanks again - my army list has been updated and looks much more Française
