I'd recommend Those Once Loyal by Bolt Thrower and Verdun by Black Boned Angel if you want a metal soundtrack to this game. Verdun really evokes a special feeling, really captures the horrors of war in musical form.

Bolt Thrower is Death Metal, Black Boned Angel is Drone Doom (like SunO))), Earth etc.). Hehe, but Bolt Thrower go along with any military strategy game as long as you like Extreme Metal, 'cause they only do lyrics about war. You could also check out some Martial industrial artists like Sophia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5luqE68Gj8), but in contrast to the two albums I've mentioned in the initial posts this stuff mostly isn't related to WW I.

Sorry, but death metal is not my scene (I'm old!). That Bolt Thrower chap sounds a bit like a Tibetan throat singer with a hangover!

This is much more melodic and was one of the first concept albums from the "underground" scene in the late 1960s. It tells the story of a man called "Private Sorrow", born at the beginning of the 20th century, who goes off to war . . .

Yeah, guess many outsiders of the metal scene can't really understand this kind of music. You actually have to get into this kind of music, guess no one can appreciate it initially. But getting into death metal has made me more open for all kinds of other experimental, weird music. BTW, I like the stuff you posted, 60s and 70s underground music is always interesting. Anders, I saw Al Stewart at Alexandra Palace in London in 1973 along with Renaissance, Vinegar Joe, Ten Years After and Wishbone Ash.

Also from that time, and they are still playing today are Barclay James Harvest, and they did this absolutely beautiful song about the Great War . . .

Wow Pete, that's an impressive line-up! I've listen a little to BJH but never really gotten into them but that song is great.

And the final song from The 4th Crusade by Boltthrower. An odd narrative piece where he runs through all the wars in English history in a long slow British accent. Great album if you can handle that style and a cool user made clip that's well worth a look at (if only from a historical perspective).

Hehe, btw, in comparison to Martin van Drunen (Asphyx & Hail of Bullets) Karl Willets sounds pretty tame, I think. He has a pretty sick sounding vocal style.

Yeah, that's a problem with many TBS, because they generally last much longer than other games, and usually the developers don't include enough songs on the soundtrack.
You could also add some Kreuzweg Ost stuff, but that's more related to WW 2, or purely to Christian religion on the newest album:
