Help with 25 mm Figures, Please
Is there anybody out there who can help with some problems in trying to play FOG AM with 25mm figures?
I tried playing 25 mm FoG AM against the redoubtable Philip Ashworth (nice bloke, but I'm jealous of his multiple and beautifully painted armies). It threw up a few problems that I thought I ought to share so that everyone is forewarned (or so that I can find out before I get a nasty surprise on the day).
The Pick'n'Mix is advertised as playing on 6' x 3' with 40mm MU. The problem that Philip and I found is that a 3' table is just 22.5 MU deep. This throws up a number of issues:
1. If you try to place a 6 MU x 4 MU (i.e. 240 x 160 mm) piece of terrain at least 8 MU from the edges, then it cannot possibly be entirely in your own half of the table,
2. Philip had brought a Warring States army and with apparently a chunk of the Great Wall of China as TF. This was all very well, but his deploying it 15 MU in meant that it was on my side of the table, indeed, that I could, in theory, place some of my troops behind his defecces
3. Light troops can deploy behind enemy light troops if anyone is foolish enough to start 15 MU in.
We resolved this by deciding that Hammy must have meant 6' x 4' tables, which would at least give room to get the terrain down and meant that light troops would only have to worry about enemy light troops that were beamed down, Star Trek fashion, and placed in hand-to-hand combat with them.
The alternative is that Hammy really did mean 6' x 3' and 40 mm MU but only for moving troops around, i.e. terrain sizes and placement and troop deployments were in 1" = 1 MU.
Can anyone please tell me which is right or where I ought to go to look it up?
Thanks,
Steve

The answer is:
Hammy didn't think hard enough before he made the announcement.

Actually Hammy rushed out the flyers that he handed out at a round of the Northern League and changed the table size for 25mm to 6 by 3 but forgot to remove the 40mm MU bit which has been the way things worked in previous years.philqw78 wrote:The answer is:

The info on the first post of this thread is correct. Sorry if the error in the flyer caused a problem. 40mm MU on a 6 by 3 clearly won't work.

Hi Hammy
I am afraid it will just be myself playing on both days with Jacob rolling my dice or playing on his games as he isn't going to be up to speed for this one.
Cheers

Not too long to go now, if you are intending playing and your name is not on the list in the first post please let me know ASAP.
We are light on 25mm FoG players
if you want to or are willing to play 25mm please let me know.
Other than that I think things are reasonably under control.

Re: Stockport Pick'n'Mix 2012 December 8th&9th
Sadly there will not be a 25mm FoG:AM competition this year. Some of the players who wanted to play 25mm have had to drop out for family reasons and there just are not enough interested parties to make it work.
Perhaps next year?
Other than that the other four periods all seem to be viable on both days.

Well Phil,
I can confirm that your list of runners and riders is not entirely incorrect even if we assume that you would be bound to get your own entry right
I am still missing a few lists, if you are intending playing can you send me some lists folks.

Re: Stockport Pick'n'Mix 2012 December 8th&9th
I think I have nearly all the lists in now. If all goes well I should have finished checking them and making the trophies some time today. If that happens then I will post the R&R.
It is possible that I might need another player to offer to float into the FoG:R on Sunday. As thing stand FoG:R looks to be even both days but there is the possibility of one more player for Sunday only. If anyone else is interested in a day of FoG:R please let me know.
