Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
Dwight...the trucks look awesome..especially the frist three ones as they meet vanilla style closely but could it that they are a bit to big ? #
The two main reason why modded unit rosters can look cluttered up is cause of different angles or of inconsistent sizing within the same unit class...it doesnt matter if the trucks are to big but then ALL trucks have to share the same sizing in relation to an elected truck which size has to be the template for the others..dunno if I explained myself correctly..or maybe its just me mr.over pedantic

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
I will do some "scaling" and see how it turns out. I got them "scaled" down to match a vanilla Maultier. I know how to "scale" to match the units when I am cutting and pasting for a correct size, BUT when I "scaled the icons to match the Vanilla Icons, they look way too small in the DCS and the masks do not function so I cannot skin them. If I use the original icon I made, everything works but the image in the menu is larger than the vanilla units. Somewhere I am missing a step. But I have been messing with this stuff for several days and I am liable to having flatulance in the head (brain farts) at this point. Any ideas from the icon makers out there using GIMP?
Pretty simple, I made the icon and got it all "scaled" to look right matching the parts, etc., but when I scale them to match the sizes of the Vanilla Icons, it doesn't work right and I am leaving something out.

I had fun with Guille's PzIIIM

And here's the mask. Get the PzIIIM in Guille's thread.

the Opel Blitz was 6.10m which is actually 90px (without shadow) so every px is 6,778cm
Opel Maultuier was same length as Opel Blitz
Ford Maultier was 6.38m (638/6,778 = 94px)
Magirus Maultier was 6.12m (same as Opel Blitz)
and Mercedes L4500 Maultier was 7,90m (790/6,778 = 116 px)
this the formula to apply to all trucks... Every Px is 6,778cm..base scale is vanilla Opel Blitz
In order to not distort or make to big the drivers cab it may be necessary to just scal vertical instead of overall...after all its fiddeling around
you can get even more into detail by considering vehicle height..this would avoid completely distortion but is more research of course
btw...there is a tape measure in GIMP with which you can take the length of objects..look screeny
make yourself some help lines and measure the space in between..and the auxiliary lines you can find under Image>Aux lines (towards the bottom)..you can drag with the mouse vertical or horizontal starting from the edge of the imgae and place them where you want

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
Thanks very much Chris. You and Rezaf are helping me get through this learning curve and I am truly grateful for this help and your courtesy. As they say in Russia, "Ochin Silna" which translated means "very much".

thing is..the more one gets familar with GIMP the more things become a piece of cake...really...as small as the programm might be (compared to photoshop) it is really a very powerful tool

Hmmm, Maultier Series was named SdKfZ 3 not 4.

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
Yes, you are correct Jelinobas. The Sdkfz 4 was the armored cab version with Nebel rockets. Attached you will find the 15cm Panzerwerfer 42 SWS with armored cab. This will be an icon very soon for the game. We have the Opel Maultier PZWF 42 version in the game but not this one.

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
It's not quite the same, but you COULD create some kind of mockup using Bebro's Panzerwerfer and the Katyusha.

That sly wizard Rezaf has so much more talent than he will acknowledge. Just pulls a Panzerwerfer out of his hat! That's a great icon.

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
This thread is beginning to become what I hoped it would be. A discussion and sharing of icons, skins, etc. All fresh stuff and ideas and interesting graphics. Thanks guys.
