dks it's always a pleasure to see the guys from the JP’s Panzers forum posting here. :D
I'm pretty convinced that sooner or later some of you will expand your work with Panzer corps as well. And that will be great for the Panzer Corps community.
We need your commitment and your talent.

Mongo's a little stressed right now. He has been buried in his work for PZC and had a lot of turmoil in everyday life. So I would imagine his fuse is very short. He loves the game, he needs time to relax and play with the fruits of his and everyone else's labors and efforts. I have a good appreciation and understanding of just how tedious it is to make the kind of mod he made and then change it again. It makes you stressed because there are a million little details that all have to be perfect for things to work properly. Then if something isn't right, you have to find it and maybe rework everything. It demands deep concentration and keeping track in a methodical way and you can't quit until you have reached certain points to stop. It's a bitch.

can't say it any better than that  just remember guys, as much as you love the game and want to better it, poor old Alex has to bring it all together for everyone, including the people who pay him to do the impossible to the many. now that is a bitch  have fun................

Are we fragmented? I think yes. Here is a thread, there is a thread, all it's spreading in numberless pages. Just for newcomers the navigation is long and difficult. It's a lot of searching-work to find all what here offered on Mods,Szenarios,etc....

An idea would be a united Modding-and Szenario-Thread,where you can find all Stuff in one Thread. And as often how new Stuff is posted in such a thread,it will ever be on the top of the Web-Page...no long search-all together.

What's your opinion,people?

It has pros and cons. If all mod-related stuff goes in there I am afraid once this thread reaches a certain number of pages it becomes a pain to find something particular as well as you have to go through a lot of posts probably then.

Personally I can live well with the current stickies, and people can always ask if they need a certain info or don't find something in the forum quickly.

My 2 cents.

I give you another example:

On the DMP-Forum theres is a subforum named "Panzer Corps-Modding". In this subforum has every modder also his own subforum. These are the workshops from the modders,e.g. churchlakecity's workshop. The most of us have inside different threads for different Stuff. I have Wehrmacht Modding,SE-Modding,Afrika Corps Modding....These threads are locked for the users. Only i and the moderators and admins can make a post there. The reason for this is,that i and the users keep the maximum overwiew over all. For Comments from the people there is a extra thread which isn't locked and free postable for everybody.

So you can find all Modding-Stuff in the "PC-Modding"- subforum and you must not cruise through the whole forum. It's easy to find and all is collected in this subforum....

We can't have subforums. Only stickies.

In answer to the title question of this thread, no, I do not believe we are not fragmented as modders (I will assume a definition of modder that includes file changing, utilities, graphics work, units, sound and efx changes, and purely scenario designer who uses existing resources). We are pursuing different projects but we each have the same goal - make a killer mod that improves the PzC gaming experience for people, even if only ourselves. The fact that I am focusing on a US campaign, another on a Russian campaign, another on an Italian campaign and so on and so forth, doesn't make us fragmented, just happy beavers working on different parts of the same dam. If guys want help they come to this forum and ask for it and get it - that shows we work together.

The extent to which we achieve the goal of a killer mod is, of course, arbitrary but I think we all enjoy trying knowing others are doing a similar thing. :)

The one thing that is lacking, however, is constructive feedback. No matter how small or important a comment, suggestion or even criticism is, modders need more of it if we are going to make more killer mods.

Personally I have to spend so much time with my own scenarios that I don't have time to try any other mods out there. Perhaps it's like that for others too?

But yes, it is a problem.

You are damn right, Mick.
I don't play the game anymore, since I began modding. Even having time I need to clear the mind. I've always seen a lot of modders "complaining" about this.

I know the feeling. Whenever i take a break in modding (usually short), i like to play a couple of scenario's of the other mods but usually i lack the time to finish to the end.
Everything i played sofar whether it is from Bebro, El_condoro, Augustin and yes, Mick too has been real fun and challenging.

Its not a question of technically feasable...
DMP is a privately owned forum dedicated to wargames modding in general...the owner of DMP has not to follow any policy...this here is a companys official forum..this is an entirely different thing

What are your guys wishes? Can't we come to an agreement somehow?

If you're a modder, please let's hear what you have to say.
Thanks in advance!

ups..I noticed I somehow I did not really replied to the topics question until now

There is so many differnt views and visions reagrding mods that Iam not sure if there is something like a general agreement.
Since I signed up here I found that those active here are really very cooporative and dont hesitate to share stuff , units or whatever while some others made this tool or that tool, somebody else made some awesome tiles...You know..somehow it fits together
As hard as I try I can not see a fragmented comunity...
More stuff in the exe ?..heck yeah..it could always be more and never will suffice everybodys wishes so why even bother about that ?...
some more stuff will come with AK but its worthless to try to extort something from the developers they are not prepared, or not in the position, to deliver..for whatever reason. So why not trying to make the best out of an existing engine, appreciate improvements in case they are implemented and have fun as long as it will last ?...just asking ?

Guys I think you forget sometimes how much work is involved in all this.

Rudankort (Flash Back Games) is the sole developer on Panzer Corps. Every line of code was written by him and the game & UI design are driven by him. After years of making the game and then patching it he was burned out and took a break.

He is very supportive of modders and would love to do everything you all want but he has limited time. The Afrika expansion is the first opportunity since last year to add any new functionality. He's adding a number of things to help out with scenario design and modding. I don't have the full list yet but know he's doing as much as he can.

Rudankort is a modder - this is how he started out and fully appreciates the work you guys do, but please appreciate he works really hard to and sometimes just doesn't have enough hours in the day. I think people sometimes forget the size of the team and why somtimes you have to wait longer than we would like, but we are doing everything we can to support you.

If anyone is to blame for the lack of modding features it is probably us as we keep driving Alex on to the next feature or release.

That I did not know Iain - I thought you worked with a full team on all PC things. Now - I hope Rudankort can do nevertheless some more things to mod PC to a higher level.

Thank you !

Churchy, I only have three words for that "fragment" (and the ONLY one I might add on this forum), Futue te Ipsum.

My mods are almost the same as deductor, except I make MP scenarios.

I'm for realism with in the context of game play so, you know how I feel about some mods.
