Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
Hello Fellows:
I was working on making a mask file bigger, but seems you guys are anxious and in an effort to prevent redundancy, I post this MediaFire link to a Zip File, Panzer Corps Masks 1.2.
http://www.mediafire.com/?0zd77u4pl5fgfcm
It contains 42 masks. Three of them were already in the Mod folder, such as Brummbaer, but I removed the prefix "German" or "Ger" to the icon's name to help it be better organized in the mod. So if you load this set of skins, check your files for just three duplicates. Of course if you don't like some of the masks I did, just kick them out. I also made some fort and strongpoint masks just like Bebro is mentioning. The icons look very good when camouflaged. Please give me feedback on the masks if you will. I am learning, so I can improve. I experimented making a Panther with the turret sides covered in track links. It is called "trackturret". Let me know if it is acceptable or too cheesy. Some of the icons I made masks of if their colors were light (but not gray) to see how they skins look on them. Some look pretty good IMO.
Here is a MediaFire link to a file with Infantry Icon Masks. Rezaf did these. http://www.mediafire.com/?19yj25ga32tj5rn
The icons made by DMP have "dmp" in the title and the icons made by HBalck have "B" in the title. All the rest are what I guess to be "public domain". My thanks goes out to all the highly talented Icon makers who donated them to make this great game better.

Thanks.
Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
I'm making solid process with implementing a new feature that's able to automatically remove any given insignia from a baseIcon and replace it with another one.
For this to work, the Mask files have to be slightly adjusted, but it's not too much work. I'll make a tutorial once I've finished up some more finetuning.
For the time being, does anyone have any target nationalities to request?
If so, please consider making an insignia mask for me.
Here's the base mask for the GreatBritain insignias I created for my tests:

Stay tuned.

That's current procedure. When you edit a post you are only changing its contents. So what you've done is right.flakfernrohr wrote:I am so computer illiterate, when I updated the topic in my first post, it did not kick the thread up to new postings
And thanks for the update.

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
awesome...this getting crazy...just a pity I dont have time to make all custom stuff for Panzercoprs East..I would never finish the mod that way...flakfernrohr wrote:I am adding a new skin and thumbnail pack today to the DCS thread. Over 330 skins now with 24 uniform skins for infantry.

Well, things have been rather quiet, so not much news from my side, either.
I tried my hand on a version of the tool that can retouch insignias (to a limited degree) and replace them with others, as I had hinted at above.
There was exactly zero response, so I'm not sure anyone considers this useful, and the version isn't tested very good yet, so I uploaded them seperately as opposed to replacing the original link.
See post #3 and #4 for the new version and a mini-tutorial on how to make use of the feature with custom masks.

Dude ,you're not doing the national icons now?
There are at least four people on this forum who are eagerly awaitng the icon thing to be done.
I didn't want to seem pushy by saying what national icons I would like to see:ALL
I response was and still is all except for germany, which is alreayd done.
Rezaf please continue your work,it was and still is groundbreaking. It enables people like myself who don't have an artistic flair and the computer knowledge to skins. Granted I haven't been as active in skinning yet,but I'm putting the final finishing touches on SS-GTPG now. When that's complete I fully intend on diving into the camo shop and prcuding a shitload of skins for the public
Another thing. The SS Panzer Corps,Heer Total SE and the Elite Units mod would never, never have been thought or done w/o your and Flak's work.
Your work is appreciated and highlighted every time someone downloads one of those mods (over 1000 btwn the old extinct Gamefront site and the new MediaFire).
Also SS-GTPG would never have come about and that is a huge success.
Please continue with your marvelous and groundbreaking work, please.

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
In the end rezaf is right. So little feedback, and above all so little people in adding more masks.
People don't imagine the work that is involved in doing a tool like that. The lack of enthusiasm is discouraging.
I hope, however, that you continue to develop your tool. Because I believe some of the guys use it, in spite of being... silent.
Maybe with the game on Steam one day, the community grows in active members and things may be different.

@airbornemongo/VPaulus:
Well, I haven't done much in DCS lately, but that doesn't mean it's discontinued. I still hope to add airplane icon support, for example.
Lack of activity doesn't actually bother me, but if folks are bugging you and you can see something is anticipated, it provides motivation, while if the thread lays dormant for eternity, you get the feeling noone cares and maybe rather work on something else, at least that's how it is in my case.
I'm doing a number of things, some of them even PzC related, but I'm not one that likes to "spill the beans", because I personally hate it when I follow some project for a long time and then, poof, the dude doing it loses interest and just leaves it unfinished (Hello HBalck), so I don't wanna be that guy myself (though I kinda left PG Classic hanging in the ropes with big changes pending, I'll have to admit that).
I was careful to wait until I was ready to release something folks could work with even if I never lifted a finger working on it again before announcing DCS officially, and I think it worked out pretty good.
Sure, some stuff would come in handy, but you can use the tool just fine as-is.
Anyway, chances are I'll release some more versions, especially if interest picks up at some point, but not neccessarily only then.
Btw., I think it's less a matter of lack of activity on this thread but more a matter of lack of activity in these forums. Whatever the exact reasons may be can certainly be argued about.

I agree. As you might understand, I'm more aware of that fact than anybody else.rezaf wrote:Btw., I think it's less a matter of lack of activity on this thread but more a matter of lack of activity in these forums. Whatever the exact reasons may be can certainly be argued about.
Probably it will raise again a little with the last East DLC, but it will be anyway for a very short period.
In resume we need patches, we need Africa Corps or more expansions. DLC isn't enough.
But in truth, it has been almost an year since release... not having a big community and assuming that it's natural that some people just move on, you'll end up noticing more that lack of activity.
Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
while PzC is really a great PG remake it lacks the feeling of epicness...there is not enough depth and not enough grand strategy to attract all the serious hex wargamers..and there is quite a few of them around...maps are to small...warfare scale is to small...not enough game mechanics...there is quite a few of these issues...scenarios are to generic and repetitive...while I understand that some may argue about the simplicity of the engine being all so great its really not all that great cause at the same time its the biggest flaw of PanzerCorps ..to attract more wargame players there is more strategy needed, more mechanics, bigger scale warfare, more depth etcVPaulus wrote:I agree. while PG was a huge success nowadays a remake isnt enough cause not only have computers evolved but players too...so some more content is needed and this could only be achieved by raising the complexity of the engine...not to much but sufficient to be able to implement a few more mechanics allowing for more tactical deph and strategic gameplay on a greater scale and bigger maps...not necessarily as big as Panzercorps East but considerably bigger than PzC Maps right now..at least 4-5 times bigger..
and then I would launch Add-Ons a la Panzercorps East, Panzercoprs Europe, Panzercoprs Africa, Panzercorps Pacific with huge maps like my Map, more mechaincs and 80-120 turn long scenario for Grand Strategy play...this would certainly attract a wider range of players as it would allow to set up these big board hexgames they play in the real world on a PC monitor...
hmm, maybe The Lordz or Slitherine offer me a job...

Re: Dwight's Camo Sprayshop
Thank you that you continue your work. The least activity in this thread is perhaps therefore, because the have as many German users fear that their English skills are insufficient and therefore, perhaps they could be misunderstood. Second, it is also frustrating when some people announce their work over weeks and months, but then quit in the middle of their project work. We all know who it is. The forums will be partially DMP much posted in German. I want to thank, in any case which they have invested a lot of work into this project and to sacrifice a lot of free time for it. my English is not very good but I hope that all understand me.
