I've not heard from blbrowning for 10 days so have frozen his faction. Please check the news post for details of challenges that need to be made. If I've not heard from Aristides soon I'll do the same with him so that we can progress.
Challenge issued for macsen, password 'macsen'.
Cheers.

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
Ok lets see if Astrides gets back to you. I am still confused about how you score i understood it before the change but havent a clue now
So basicly if you win you add on the Renown that you figure out from your equation. So let me see if i can figure out my first battle. Turk1964 15/39 def Tophat 37/34
For Turk
250 to start with then 15/39=.384 x 500/2 =96 so take 96 from 250 =154 renown total score 404 is this right
After this my sarting score would be 404 and do the same equation to - or + renown
Plus any bonuses for looting camps killing commanders and winning
For Turk
250 to start with then 15/39=.384 x 500/2 =96 so take 96 from 250 =154 renown total score 404 is this right

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
I'll post the scores so far soon. When we have all had a look at them, I'd like to tweak some scores downwards (winning bonus especially) as I think they are too great a reward, given that the 'casualty figure' is already a good reward for winning. As always, open for discussion

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
Here are the scores so far. I think the adjustments are too inflationary when you consider the base scores... winning well is already a very, very good reward. I suggest that a win is +10, camp loss -20, taking the field +10, TC/FC/IC +5/+10/+25. Please let me know what you think.

Gday Keyth
I agree that winning the game is advantage enough,so extra 25 for winning isnt necassary. Take the winning bonus away and keep the other bonuses the same as is for now.Taking the field probably should go as well as an inspired commander on the field is bonus enough. Those are my thoughtds so far.... Anybody else like to comment?
Cheers Turk

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
I agree with dropping the 25 for winning, your already getting points for winning. Think you should get points for having your IC there though as you are risking your own life in battle, and not just saying this because that's what I do : )

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
I agree with Turk and macsen about dropping the 25 for winning. having some points 5 or 10 for having your IC on the field and living(not routing) is a good idea as well. Though if you loose your IC I think the penalty should also be greater.
Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
I don't mind either way, I'll go with the decision.

Hi Guys - apologies for delay (it's my birthweek so I'm constantly dragged out by the locals and forced to drink huge amounts of alcohol - those who have been playing me these last days will testify to my drunken blunders in games).
YES! I'm in this competition - I have to be: I am after all the only claimant to the throne who has any validity whatsover. My armies are Ghaz (not late) and the Tahirids.

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
Oh right - rules discussion.
Perhaps it's the wine but I don't get how you 'already get something for winning'.
If we don't get 25 for winning, isn't it true that the loser can get more points than the winner if the loser has a smaller army?
I'm not saying that's bad, but it does change things. It seems small elite armies would have a big advantage...
Hang on...
Aha! I see now - it's percentage of elements lost not actual elements. That makes sense and I would guess relieves the need for a winning bonus.
Or does it? If Turk and I have armies of 25 elements, and he defeats me 25 to 24, then he only gets a tiny amount more than I do even though he won? (I'm sorry: there's just no way I can do the math right now...)
For me, a defeat/victory must mean something - in the above example, when my army reaches 25, in 'real life' the battle isn't frozen like the game would be; it means my army routs, probably losing many casualties in the general pursuit and my army's morale being shattered.
So I vote for +25.

I have no objection to taking away the winning bonus. As for risking your IC. I abstain, as I don't normally use one.

I've tested some scoring changes by re-running the results so far through the spreadsheet... I think it looks pretty good. The leaders are still comfortably in the lead, but not by such dramatic margins. I'll upload the info today.
Cheers.
