I wouldn't say June 2 is very late. The earliest practical turn due to weather is only one turn earlier on May 13.richardsd wrote:June is very late, I think you have to go early or very late - of course the delay could be offset by the 'idea', perhaps soem interesting Naval landings

Re: RC11 AAR
you are right, better as - why wait the extra turn, of course if you get lucky you can have fine weather in April - ouch!
I think we are going to see a couple of interations before we find a reasonable defensive plan against an early Barbarossa - well its going to take me a few for sure!

Re: RC11 AAR
If you are ready in May, then you should attack ASAP. However, my units often need upgrades/reinforcements in May 1941 due to bad logistical planning or late technological breakthroughs, so I usually end up attacking in June 1941. 1 turn of guaranteed fair weather is a big advantage, but you can still do a proper Barbarossa without it.
Re: RC11 AAR
I just met one super early fair weather in Russia on Apr 3rd 1941 on RC 16rkr1958 wrote:I wouldn't say June 2 is very late. Re: RC11 AAR
That would be good luck with the weather then as there is only a 15% chance of fair weather in the North in April. The chance that both April turns would be fair weather is 2%! By the way, the chance that at least one April turn is fair weather is 28%.Morris wrote:I just met one super early fair weather in Russia on Apr 3rd 1941 on RC 16rkr1958 wrote:I wouldn't say June 2 is very late. Re: RC11 AAR
OK, thanks for your information . Anyway , I think If you want a aggressive Babarosa , It should be better to start before June .Even though ,Axis has less chance to take Moscow before mud in 1941 because of the 8 Russian GARs released on Aug 1st 1941 .
Re: RC11 AAR
I think a May start would require skipping the Balkans, well at least Greece. However; having Greece and Crete helps with the defense of Libya. And, having the both Greece and Yugoslavia helps the axis oil situation. In my last few games I had skip the Balkans for a May Barbarossa. However; in two that I've got going on now I conquered both the Yugoslavia and Greece and in one game invaded Russia on June 22, due to a build miscalculation and in the other it looks like a June 2 invasion. And in this game, I convinced Col Klink to conquer the Balkans and it looks like he'll be invading on June 2 too. So, that's three samples and it'll be interesting to see how they play out.Morris wrote:OK, thanks for your information . Re: RC11 AAR
Yugo is necessary & won't effect Babarosa's schadule . But Greece is quite different . It will badly delay the Babarosa at least one turn .( sometimes one turn will be enough to gain a Axis victory opportunity ) Also the rail transport will also decerase the effective data of the transport troops . I always take Yugo before Nov 1940 & give up Greece .rkr1958 wrote:I think a May start would require skipping the Balkans, well at least Greece. Re: RC11 AAR
based on my current experience I think Greece is prabably not wise if you are going for an aggressive attack on Russia (as opposed to waiting till later) as even 1 turn has a significant effect on what can be achieved in 41. If I am lucky, I will hold Staffenburg's May Barbarossa at Stalingrad - if I am lucky!
I will be able to improve my defence, but I am sure the attackers will get better with experienec too!

Re: RC11 AAR
I don't think that building so many ARMs as the Soviets in 1941 is a good idea. I tried that twice and in both cases my ARMs got totally mauled by the German TACs and MECHs/ARMs. The Russian airforce is too weak to protect its ARMs in 1941 and they are too low on techs to have good air defence. I would go for MECHs and INFs, as this is what the Soviets will need in 1941 in order to stop May Barbarossa (and it still may be difficult to hold Leningrad/Moscow/Rostov - the Allied player will most likely have to sacrifice one of these cities, depending on where the German advance is the strongest). With a bit luck in weather, the Germans will pummel the Soviets mercilessly, so it's best to save as much as possible for late 1941 and 1942. Of course, GARs should be placed everywhere in order to stall the Germans as long as possible, but it's ABC of the Soviet defence strategy, so...

Is the limit on non infantry units working? It looks like players are building as many armour/mech as before
