Ok ! I have many problems !!!

Post by AugustinMalar »

1- Please explain me the Victory conditions of the scenarios params. ? I've followed the instructions and I've tried my scenario but nothing showed up as planned. I'm having a hard time. :x

2- Which is the way to have core units in the first scenario of your campaign ? Do you have to assign deploy hexes to them as in PG2 ?

3- I'm used to the PG2 editor and it's quite easy to make a campaign with it. But in PzC there's no explanation on how to start a campaign with the editor ?

Thx :)

1. Quick explanation in 1 easy lesson. Campaign victory settings.

Image

This is the template to define victory conditions. There should be at least minimum 3 of them. DV, MV, loss. They are linked to the campaign branch by 0,1,2. The only usefulness i see in that is when you want to browse quickly through your scenario's with endscn0,1,2. The most important part are the triggers that define the outcome for the player.

Image
Every condition needs to be edited. Every condition requires a time and at least one map parameter.

A time parameter defines how much time a player has to meet the goal.
A map parameter defines what a player has to do on the map to meet the goal. For example: you need to capture and hold x number of gold victory hexes or x number of core units must survive or x number of units have to be on particular spots on the map...

Image

Simple conditions for a DV. The allies cannot hold any victory hex before time runs out (the player has to capture them all) - map parameter - and [1,-1] (this actually means from the first till the last turn) - time parameter -.

Image

Simple conditions for a MV. The player must hold at least 3 victory hexes - map parameter - before time runs out [-1,-1] (this is the last turn) - time parameter-.

Image

Loss: the player is unable to meet the requirements for achieving a MV. The players owns less than 3 victory hexes when time ran out.

2) For the first scenario you just preplace the core units on the map. Dont forget to fill in the values in scenario parameters/sides.

3) With the editor you can only create maps and scenario's. You cannot build campaigns with them. To construct your campaign you must edit campaign.pzdat. It is better to build up your mod in the folder i give as example and also if you want to start it up.
\mygames\panzercorps\mods\Slovakian Campaign\data\campaign.pzdat (this is also the directory that contains your scenario's). Please check my guide for that. http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 2&p=299454
It is not only how to move cores in a dynamic linked campaign but also how the mod structure should be and how the campaign.pzdat looks like.

Augustin, if you need any further assistance, let me know!

1. There is a guide here: viewtopic.php?t=26952. It was done in an earlier version but should still be a good start along with nikivdd's other assistance.

2. In Red Dawn I have a start scenario, which is one turn long. What the player does determines whether they get a pre-set OOB in the next scenario or are given a prestige boost to buy their own.

3. As mentioned, the campaign.pzdat is the key here - it links the scenarios together, as well as the briefings. Look at one in Excel to see how they are constructed and, of course, ask any questions you may have - there is always someone with an answer.

Everything is going well so far with my campaign. :) But there's one minor thing that bug me. When I go to the purchase screen for Slovakia which is the subject of my campaign,

The units that I can purchase are Slovaks but the flag that is shown in the purchase screen is Japanese. How do you solve that problem ?

There is no Japanese flag in standard PzC so you must have a mod enabled. Perhaps the USMC mod? Disable it and see what happens.

Another thing... Why is the time 8:00 shown when I'm starting my campaign ?
It bugs me cuz the Slovak invasion of Poland started at 5:00.

Nope ! It doesn't seem to be the problem. Any other suggestions ?

I'm not sure what the Slovakian flag looks like, so I'm flying a bit blind here! In Panzer Corps\UI\flags and UI\puchase\flags, what does your 12.png look like? Going by the Data\nations.pzdat file that should be Slovakia. If it is a Japanese flag, that will be your problem. You'll need to find the correct flag.png and replace it.

The time is determined by the turns per day or days per turn settings in the scenario parameters. If you are using a 1 turn = 1 day setting you'll get 8am as the start of each day. Since the time doesn't affect game play at all it's not a biggie. In short, you can't specify a start time for a scenario.

Edit: You could specify in the briefing and/or in the pzloc file for the scenario that the player is starting 3 hours after the official launch of the offensive.

Many thanks for your quick answers. :D

Where do you set the prestige cap ? :?
It doesn't seem that you can do it with the scenario editor ?

Dobre rano ;)

Go to menu "edit" in scenario editor, scroll down to scenario parameters, then chose the "sides" window.

:? Isn't it the maximum experience level the units can reach in a scenario ?

Ex: First scenario: 10 primary city objectives is 10 x 100 pp = 1000 pp + prestige per turn. The player might finish the scenario with 700, 800 or 900 pp.
When the player start the next scenario, I want the starting prestige to be no more than 600 pp.

What should I do to set a prestige cap to 600 pp ?

Remove some primary objective markers.
Create triggers that removes prestige when you capture objectives works too.

I'd have some serious questions on why a prestige cap is necessary though.

I concur. Personally i attempt to balance prestige between scenario's in the campaign.pzdat file.

Another possibility: In the gamerules.pzdat in the data folder, you can also alter the prestige value for capturing hexes. Even the (elite)replacement costs during the scenario and at the deployment phase.

Ok Here are more problems that is occuring with my campaign.

1- Ex: 1st scenario. I have the possibility to buy another core unit. The purchase screen is showing that I have enough prestige and the core slots selector is also showing that I can buy one. When i try to get a new core unit it says that I have "not enough unit slots". I don't understand :? With the scenario editor, I have used the special hexes and I have assigned hexes where the axis side (Slovakia) is allowed to deploy. I have used the grey ones (tank and plane). But it's still not working. I have looked at the first scenario of the Fall Weiss campaign in the game to find out what i'm doing wrong but it seems that I can figure it out. What am I doing wrong ? I'm sure that it must be a simple thing that I've missed.

2- Ex: 2nd scenario. Almost the same problem. I have assigned 8 hexes (with the scenario editor) where the axis side (Slovakia) is allowed to deploy. I can deploy all my 6 core units without any problem but I can't but buy and deploy 2 more core units "not enough unit slots" even though I have enough prestige and that my core slots selector is showing that I can buy 2. Again, what I'm doing wrong with the scenario editor ?

3- Ex: 2nd scenario. Many months has passed since the first scenario. New units are now available in the purchase screen. When I start the scenario, the game starting screen is not saying and not showing that new units are now available as is it supposed to be. How come ?
I'd have some serious questions on why a prestige cap is necessary though.
To control the size of the player's core army. You don't want the player to have a huge amount of prestige so he can buy too many FTR or TB ...etc

Thx for your help :)

Did you assign Slovakia as main country in your campaign.pzdat file? (0=Germany, 11=Slovakia (if i can still count)).
3rd problem is related to the 1st and 2nd if my above assumption is correct.

Example: Bratislava 01 Slovakia into the breach 0 11 1500 Slk Campaign Grand Slk Campaign

It worked :) I thought 12=Slovakia as the Slovak flag=12 in the Flags and Purchase files of the game (1= Germany).

2nd and 3rd problems weren't solved. Is it maybe because my saved file of my completed first scenario is saved 11=Slovakia ?

Then I should play my first scenario again to see if the problems are solved ?
