In Defense of Simplicity

Post by Caswellon »

Having read many of the posts suggesting increased complexity for this game, I would like to add some balance from the normally quiet minority, in defense of retaining the sense of simplicity characteristic of the current version. While I do applaud many of the suggestions which appear to add some depth to an already established routine, I for one, would vote for only minor improvements which do not change the basic feel of this already complex AI but wonderfully simplistic human interface game.

Thanks for speaking up :)

We know their is a silent majority out there and we'll do our best to support them!

I emphatically agree with the Caswellon, and I think he has a very good point about the silent majority, most of whom will never post in any forum.

On the other hand taking into account the fact that the silent majority is just that - silent one cannot claim that they're in favour of making the game more complex or less so.

Instead we use our years of experience to make a judgement call ;)

This means we will not always be making the changes that are requested!

Balance

Post by Stryder »

based on my limited game time, the balance feels just right.. you control what you need to so that policy is set, but are not mired in details that add little and detract from setting grand strategy and directing the combat operations...

I agree on the balance being just about right. The current detail allows the player to focus more on the pleasures of manuever vice politics and logistics. This also reduces confusion and frustration when fighting battles on multiple fronts, as must be done to win. I find the immersion factor very high with this game, having just spent an entire weekend fighting the allies and methodically crushing them. This game is clearly destined to be a classic.
