What would you want them to do? Or would it just be for decoration?

Possible idea ....

Railroad Tracks leading into a railway station that, when the train arrives, generates a reinforcement unit?

The Railway Station could be a VP. When taken, it disables one sides reinforements?

Also, the other player could park a tank on the railroad tracks and disrupt supply ...

Perhaps all of this could be thrown into a strategic scenario design ... The possibilities are endless!

EDIT : .... After SL is released, then commando missions (perhaps French Resistanse missions?) can be one type of scenario.

OK - well, off the top of my head, you would need to:

+ Make a new tile set (basically a folder - copy an existing one for an easy start)
+ define a tile which is railway lines
+ define a terrain which is rail (again, add to an existing terrain.txt file)
+ define a unit type which is rail (in terrain) and any rail units (in your custom squads.csv)
+ set the cost of any terrain other than rail too high to allow movement of rail units (in terrain)

Then you have a train unit which you can move around (provided you start it off on the railway :) ).

Fair enough. It's a little involved for sure. Interestingly, Iain has a fantasy of using the engine to build a railroad game :).
