Should captured equipment have improved initiative?

Post by taffjones »

I was thinking should captured equipment have an increase of 1 to its initiative? To reflect a surprise element of having your tanks opening fire on you. :o

I dont know if it would create too many problems to implement.

What do you all think?

It is an interesting idea. There are some cases where Germans used captured equipment to sneak past the Russians, i remember them doing this at Kursk. I don't have any particular feelings on this, but the idea does have some merit.

Captured equipment isn't really used this way though. Something like that might be somewhat fitting in the Battle of the Bulge, but in the Eastern Front battles of the DLC, Russian tanks in Germans hands are painted Grey and feature BIG and prominent Balkenkreuz, for easy identification by both sides. :)

Otherwise we should use Russian unit coloring, and have a chance for friendly fire accidents. :P

Thanks for your reasoning Kerensey

Blue on blue fire AH! I have enought problems winning without killing my own troops, But it is a historical and ongoing problem .

But there again it would add a intresting twist. Maybe they could retain the enemy colouring and we would need sharp eyes to notice the strength box (In our colour).

Thanks again for another super DLC to test.

Whenever I go to post feedback on any subject I find someone has already done it in a much better way than I could express it

So this was my first attempt at starting a topic I hadn't seen discussed before.

While this may partially be the case there are substantial recorded instances in ANY significant battle of friendly fire where units are obviously friendly, (for example, units firing on a tank design that is totally foreign to all but their own forces {the KV series in Russia springs to mind}), so in any incidence where the unit conforms to the shape and stylings that ones forces are familiar with I believe that an inherant hesitance to fire on what appear to be friendlies would indeed factor in.
