It was, AGAIN, a really creative and innovative scenario. I don't know how you keep pulling these rabbits out of your hat. It was challenging but excessively so. The large amounts of enemy armor once again made the battle a challenging one at times, with a recon car biting the dust at one point I also like the way the naval battles went, it was a different type of naval challenge. You only had the little schnelleboats going up against enemy destroyers and a cruiser. You had to use your strategic bombers wisely to have a chance. I ended it with a decisive win with about five turns left. By the deployment screen of the next battle, I had around 1500 prestige. a sufficient amount for buying a couple new units and overstrengthing my units also.
I do agree that this is a battle that really needs some kind of a counter. I really gave up on keeping track of how many transports I destroyed but as a result the battle ended very suddenly. I was hoping to have enough time to capture that city that lets you take a Matilda II but I never had a change to because the battle ended unexpectedly.
Great scenario! I loved your briefing for this one, a very clever bit of writing to explain why we got the chance to crush the British evacuation.
The scary part? Open a history book, or even just spend a few hours reading wikipedia and internet articles. All of these creative and innovative ideas have historical basis. Piatek and the Battle of the Bzura, the fortress at Modlin, the failed paratrooper operation at the Hague, General Giraud's capture by the Germans near Wassigny, the evacuation of Dunkirk. All I did was translate them into a campaign in a game that you can play.
I remember when I was little I learned more about history by playing video games than I did in school. What other 5th grader knew what the difference between a tank and an assault gun is? (Tanks have traversible turrets) I thought that was awesome, and it's reflected in the content. It tells a story, and that story is the actual history of World War II.
Anyways, as for a counter. This request has come up a few times, I'm not sure if we're able to get any UI additions at this point, but we'll see.
