Which medieval battle would you like me to make?

Now that we have Eternal Empire: Nicopolis 1396?
Hungarians, Wallachians and French-Burgundian crusaders against Ottoman Turks and their Serbian vassals.

I was a bit surprised not to find it in the scenarios included with ETE. Same with Varna 1444.

The Hungarian army should probably be based on the 'Middle Hungarian (Crusader)' DAG list, only the year given in the list is wrong: it should be 1396 instead of 1392.

I like these suggestions, Epicouros. I will be getting Eternal Empire shortly and I'll bear these battles in mind. I had a look on Wikipedia just to get an idea about Nicopolis and Varna and they both look like good candidates for scenarios. Also the two battles at Kosovo. I have to admit that I know very little of the history at the moment but that is something that I shall rectify in the next couple of months.

I do plan to do the Wars in Lombardy next (15thC) and I have ordered a couple of books on the condotta this week. There may be half a dozen scenarios involved, maybe a few more than that. Then I will start reading up on the Ottomans and in the autumn I will probably dovetail an Ottoman battle with an Italian War battle (mainly 16thC). I have just done Pavia 1525 and I feel it works very well even though the arquebuses are a bit under-powered, so I am keen to do a few more of them.

If you're looking for info, I can also recommend the Osprey Campaign book on Nicopolis, by David Nicolle.

Home-made challenges (self-made or by someone else) are always welcome in the challenge screen though. I prefer to pick these up before taking a DAG or 'official' one, but alas it doesn't happen too often...

Scenario writing has become very addictive for me! What I need to do now is try and develop a fairly simple campaign mechanism to link all the battles together. I have already started work on a War of the Roses campaign. There don't seem to be too many problems except that the scenarios I have done have all the leaders named in them. So Edward, who later becomes Edward IV, is named at Mortimer's Cross and in all subsequent battles right up to 1471. But what if he were to get killed at Mortimer's Cross in a campaign game? He couldn't then be present at Towton or Barnet.

I think the only way round this will be to edit all my WOR scenarios and remove the named leaders (except for their first battle). Then I can issue a "campaign version" of the scenario in the forum and players will have to keep a track of their named leaders on a sheet of paper. With the War of the Roses there really isn't an attritional effect of the fighting. What tended to happen was that there was a large battle, one side won and they executed a few of the other side - and then a new political status quo was established . . . until the next battle. so there wouldn't be the need for much other paperwork at all.

I am strictly a medievalist when it comes to scenario-building so Boudicca and Dacia are out of bounds for me. You will find three early Baltic scenarios in this scenario forum if you go back through the pages. One is Schaulen 1236 which is also included in EE, another one is the Battle of St Matthews Day 1217 and the third one is the Battle of Lindanisa 1219. I shall be producing more Baltic scenarios in due course.

Well, I think (correct me if I'm wrong and missed some) nobody made this rather epic battle and there are not too many Mongol scenarios as of now.
So I could suggest:
Kalka River 1223: Combined forces of Rus principalities face the Mongol threat and lose.

I alwasy had a stange sentiment for the doomed 7th crusade. So maybe Al Mansurah 1250 or Fariskur 1250?

Other than that, maybe Kutna Hora 1421? Not too many Hussite scenarios either.

I think the Siege at Masada would be good with Legio X Frentensis (Lucius Flavius Silva Nonius Bassus) and the mountain top fortress - should be interesting to overcome the height difference battlewise.

Well, I personally think FoG doesn't deal well with siege warfare, mostly becaus eof its lack of a "fortified" terrain, simulating city or castle walls etc. Or field fortifications even. That's one of the things which kept me (and everyone else if I recall correctly) from making an Alesia scenario.

I don't know much about it but would like to learn more. Wikipedia doesn't say too much. Do you know of any good sources for this battle?
