Mannock's map pack for the grand campaign on General

Post by Fritz »

After finishing the normal grand campain on Colonel, I decsided to play it again with an improved version.

So far:
Poland decisive
Norway decisive
Low Countries decisive (3 restarts)
France* decisive
Sea Lion 40 decisive (1 restart)
Barbarossa marginal
Kiev decisive
Moscow 41 marginal

After Moscow 41 you go to Sevastopol 1941 in Mannock's campaign.

Here is my start position.

After 12 rounds I was victorious.

Close view!

My casulties so far.

And the tactical view.

You achive decisive victory if you caputre all victory hexes 3 turns left.
So far I must admit that Sevastopol 1941 fits in very well to the core campain. Although there are a few bugs mentioned in an other thread!

I report to the other new maps when I stumble on them later.

The battle continues. Next

Stalingrad decisive (15 of 28 rounds)
Kharkov decisive (10 of 22 rounds)

About Kharkov:
The scenario is a bit too easy at my opinion. Although i played on a high level. The enemy is no match for my forces.
I must admit that I managed to build up quite a strong core force.

As you can see the enemy starts not with full strength and the auxilary forces are good overstrength troops:

Quick strike, almost no resistance!

My casulties so far.

Full view! Notice my paratroopes far in the north. Without them no quick victory.

And the tactical view. The map is quite big. So Panthers are needed here!

So this is it with the new maps from Mannock. There are 2 more maps, but you have to loose against the British to see them.

Next:
Kursk decisive (9 of 18 rounds)
Moscow 43 decisive (9 of 22 rounds)

Note: It seems on this custom campaign you can earn much prestige. 2 more scenarios in my case really make a difference.
I start USA East Coast invasion with 19000 prestige. Since I already had full strong army in Moscow 43. :D

USA East Coast (marginal):
I upgraded all units to the best whats available. And overstrengthen them all. I landed only in the upper half of the map and lost so only 1 unit at sea battle. If you play this scenario safe you can only achieve marginal vicorty, but your experienced troops are spared.

USA Mid West decsisive (12 of 21 rounds):
With over 40 experienced troops i could rush though the scenario with full force. That was great fun!

USA West Coast decisive (13 of 23 rounds):
As expected my strong army crushed the enemy like a bug. I even could counter attack the mountain invasion force in the north above.

Also this time I splitted my army from the upper half into 2 parts and encircled then enemy.

Minimal losses:

Tactical map:

Conclusion:
The 2 additional custom maps I played alter the campain a lot. Meaning the make it easier at the endgame. So experienced players can play General or Field Marshal. But beware with Field Marshal you may have a though start.

I rate the campaing with 9 of 10 points.
