Supporting LF
This relates to a discussion about supporting LF in the FOG V2 part of the forum. I was wondering how often these are used, and if they are considered worth using.
Personally I think they are only worth taking if supporting relatively expensive troops such as Legionaries or Dailami, and are never worth taking when supporting protected spearmen, as the points would be better spent on more spearmen. But I would be interested in seeing what others think.

I suspect that to get at the issue you perceive you need to be asking slightly different questions. For example I often use them with legionarii, but usually avoid them with Spearmen - I don't think your poll caters for that.
On the basis I use legionarii more than spearmen who have the option for LF supports I voted that I often use them - however, I would suggest that it does not reflect the actual situation

In the few armies which interest me in which LF supports are available, I would rather take the LF as seperately deployed BGs if available. This gives more flexibility, increases BG count and allows normal shooting. Bear in mind that my armies usually include protected spear and poor ones at that.

I would have liked to put something like that in the choice of answers but it only allowed me three options.nikgaukroger wrote:I suspect that to get at the issue you perceive you need to be asking slightly different questions. I've used them in a v2 test game to get 12 base Roman HF units. That's another option of value - it can be the only way to get a max size unit.Polkovnik wrote:I would have liked to put something like that in the choice of answers but it only allowed me three options.nikgaukroger wrote:I suspect that to get at the issue you perceive you need to be asking slightly different questions. Interestingly, I use them to minimise my sizes and increase the number of BG's in my Viking army.grahambriggs wrote:I've used them in a v2 test game to get 12 base Roman HF units. That's another option of value - it can be the only way to get a max size unit.
4 Huscarles with Huscarl archers in support = 6 (minimum BG size), which means you can have 4 BG's instead of 3. It gives me a bit more flexibility in aiding my Fremen.
