Lots of ways to delay or hang-up, for sure! Not so many ways to speedily overcome a flank!

Our flanks seem to pretty much always hold, its the center that gives out first for us. If a flank does fail it is normally so far along in the game that the flank force cant move fast enough to make a difference to the center battle anyway

The problem with expensive cavalry is that they only work well if the enemy gives you a weaker target, and does not have commanded shot. They aren't much good against foot.

I prefer to surrender the mounted initiative to the enemy and blow him apart with massed foot.

However, with the Early 30YW Swedish army, I feel that attempting to have high quality troops in every arm will just result in the army being too small.
I do not have alot of experience with these rules. However with my limited playing experience with these rules, I have been playing Swedes vs Imperialists 1200pts.

It seems to me that the Swedish infantry fight at a big advantage against the Imperialists. However the early cavalry are weaker than the catholics. I would suggest having as little cav as possible to stop losing the flanks, including taking as much protected shot as possible. Concentrate of overwhelming him with your good infantry in the centre, having support infantry (even 1 lower class) behind your good infantry also helps.
