Chief Getahorse and friends are greatly enjoying the fine wines and rations seized from the plush camp of House Musculus. When faced with a densely featured battlefield made famous by a historic battle betwen Pyrrhus and the Carthaginians in the days of the Diadochi, the Romans divided their force into three parts in an attempt to out flank my gallant forces. Seeing this, my brave highland warriors were able to rush the weak Roman center and overwhelm it and then mangle the Roman left before their select force of veteran and elite legionaries could arrive. In the confusion the Roman camp was also seized and hence has provided food and spirits for the post battle celebration. Chief Getahorse' nephew Needafix perished late in the battle while bravely battling legionaries so many Roman captive will accompany him on his funeral pyre and serve him in the next life.

Getahorse: 16/47 (2499)
Musculus: 52/42 (5857)

Chief Smeggifix , and his hairy ball and chain, are please to announce they have routed the Roman forces of Maximus Turnus. In the beginning it looked as though the Gauls where all but defeated , but the brave Gallic Cavalry flanking on one side , with the brave Aquitania allied general leading a flanking maneuver on the other side was too much for the Romans to handle. All three where last seen frolicking nakedly over the dead Romans corpses.

Smeggifix (IDS): 44/48 (4092)
Maximus Turnus (Ironclad): 34/34 (5033)

Poodiclese gains 50pts as well for being on the victorious side. He did lead a charge but managed to come away unscathed. (In Blathergut's army)

I'll wait to add in extra pts for player allies until all the games are done and we know who gained extra.

Were there "player allies" in any of the following armies: Getahorse/TGM (I assume no), Ironclad???

Despite my offer to provide training lessons for any allied contingents sent to join us as well as an easy 50 points, no allies were forthcoming. House Musculus didn't to have takers in that direction either.

Sorry for the delay. I've been out of town and now face a Roman army with 75 extra points of Galatian faux Romans. Not pretty!

Hey! Take your time...no rush at all. We all have lives.

It seems not many availed themselves of player allies. Do you guys like/dislike the idea?

But that would put IDS at 550 if his buddy also won his game!

Just a note on my game vs. blathergut: Seeing his vastly superior Roman/ally army sent me into camp mode on some hills. We are now engaged and I should lose by the end of the weekend.

Deeter

P.S. The whole allies thing seems odd. Why am I facing Gallatian faux Romans? 75 point is too mcuh too.

This was all an experiment. I had thought, well, if you give an extra 50pts, by the time you get a commander, you don't really gain much. But in truth, no one seems to have gained any extra leaders, just extra BGs and used the same # of leaders, calling one a player ally.

The original idea was to have to fight slightly different-sized armies, and to make the 'get-an-ally' important.

But TGM had an idea about working with the number of BGs instead of number of points, as such. That way, an ally could bring 3 or 4 extra BG but it wouldn't be overwhelming.

As for Galatians...maybe we need to be more restrictive as to the types of troops which can be used.

Also, restricting the number of BG to a maximum, but allowing for better quality = less BG and average or protected gaining you a few, might be interesting. But again, too many throws the PC version off. Extra points could be spent on command though.
