Battle Result
The following note (nailed to a centurian's head) was tossed over the wall of the nearest Roman settlement:
It is my pleasure to inform you that the army of Maximus Turnus and his Dung Beaters has been defeated in battle by Deeter Mendix, the Gallic One, and his valiant Head Takers. The score: Roman oppressors (4,251 dead) 31/31 vs. Gallic patriots (2,668 dead) 32/39.
The Roman general maneuvered to turn the Gallic left while denying his right. Only stout resistance by Gallic skirmishers and repeated charges by cavalry and chariots thwarted his advance until the infantry could come into action. At one point all Roman leaders were in melee (including one fragged TC) but, alas, none fell in combat so no heads taken from among them. Although the abandoned Roman camp was besieged for many turns, it did not fall either.
The whiley Maximus Turnus lives to fight another day. Not so lucky were his many Dung Beaters who lay fallen or are now guests of Deeter Mendix, the Gallic One, who pleads: "Send us no more Roman legions. We are running out of chains with which to enslave them. We also have a sufficient supply of heads -- for now."
Deeter Mendix, the Gallic One, former ruler of Transalpine Gual.
(Do I get a Soldurii now?)

Chief Getahorse's siege of Gaius Poodiclese is slowly proceeding. Not feeling that a fortified camp is sufficient to insure his poodles' safety, Gaius has formed up the rest of his army outside the walls of the fort and settled in for the siege with one flank anchored on woods and the other anchored on a ditch. Of course there are brave Gaulic skirmishers knocking at the back gate of the fort. Now where did I leave my composite bow? Who ever herd of light chariots that can't shoot! There oughta be a law!

Gaius Poodiclese is pleased to announce that the dismemberment of the Gaul army is finally taking place. After drawing some of my legions out of the line even though I am certain their generals (who were 2 hexes away) were yelling out I wouldnt do that, the inevitable slaughter seems to have kept the rest of the army in place where the Gauls have fallen on our swords and are now dieing in droves. Getahorses enthusiasm to reduce his armies payroll is greatly appreciated and another turn or two will hopefully bring peace and quiet to Gaul again.

Guess we can think on allies or if even to bother with them. We fight again when the first round is done and we know the order for choosing targets!TheGrayMouser wrote:Hmm isnt that contrary to your post above that everyone is out from himslef??Blathergut wrote:re: Allies
How about as incentive, an ally gets the 50 pts as well if his buddy wins the battle?
Anyways its all good, when do we get to battle again>

Allies:
>anyone can agree to send troops to anyone (100pts seems like a lot, but 50 seems hardly worth it by the time you pay for the general...so 75pts? added to your army if someone agrees to send you troops)
>ally gen must be troop if he comes from a player with 400pts or less...field if from 450-500...inspired if from 550-600
>how about, if the player wins the battle, he splits the 50pts with the ally....25pts each...next game would be set for, say 450, but he could only use 425...
>if the player loses, they split the loss...-25 each...
Does this make it Gauls vs Romans? Should we just toss the idea of allies and leave it as simple as it is now? As it is now, low end players will pick low end to fight so the top dogs will have to snarl it out between them
Hmmmm...do we want to limit C-in-Cs....400pts or less = troop only...450-500 field...550-600 inspired?

Chief Smeggifix cast eye over the battlefield ,the bodies of both his clan and fellow Gauls lay slaughtered on the ground , it had been a bloody day with each side taking heavy casualties , he knew his men were tired and they could not last much longer.... dare he , should he...
He pondered this question , he had hoped that it would never be needed , never used , but could he afford not too , his men where dying , his village would be plundered , women and goats raped.... he could wait no longer and quietly whispered into the ear of his aid to unleash the secret weapon. He signaled his bearers to turn around and hoped the remaining few warriors would also remember their training and avert their eyes when the time came.
The hairy chested wife flew out from nowhere and raced nakedly down the battle lines ....
The enemy , caught off guard ,were heard screaming , vomiting as the hairy creature bobbing and a blowing in the wind raced provocatively between them.Chief Smeggifix felt pity but could not bring himself to turn around until the signal that the beast had been safely recalled and under cover away from sight.
When Chief Smeggifix turned , his pity turned to horror at the sight he saw, the enemy where devastated , in shock ,screaming ,some where clawing at their eyes trying to remove the picture from their mind , some where turned to stone , others where last seen running for the hills.
The battle was over , he had won , but at what price.... will war ever be the same again......
Chief Smeggifix (IDS) 35/41(3891/10900) WIN

"The hairy chested wife flew out from nowhere and raced nakedly down the battle lines" Quote.
It was was good to have made it back home, to live to tell the tale. Over co-co, he poured out his woes about the warrior leader in red slippers, who released the naked witch... sleep came at last. When the sun was mearly an hour into the day, he swore from that day on his men would, would cover themselfs completely in blue paint, to cover there blushes should the naked witch be spoke of again....
Good game thanks...
