600 Point Early Swedes...
We are playing our first game tonight and I have the choice of taking a more horse dominant army with two units of determined, superior pistol/pistol horse, or adding another Swedish Brigade. I'm going against some dirty, canabalistic Catholic germans.
Any thoughts?

I took one unit, which killed three enemy units. Sadly a combination of rolling ones on long distance death rolls, choosing a dumb terrain placement, and misunderstanding how the brigade rule works kind of porked me.deadtorius wrote:So did he take the foot and roll poorly??? Surprisingly I have found that protected foot does not do all that well in the case of a cav melee, I had thought the pikes would be more of a deterrent. Guess bad die rolls just spell your doom regardless.
Will do an AAR Monday

So lost the game but still did magnificently well in body count. well one out of two is not that bad. I take it that was your first game? Live and learn, just try not to forget what you did wrong this time. I have found that open tables are much better than ones crowded with junk, our last game had a lake that ended up on my side of the table. That caused issues to put it mildly.
Better luck next time and will keep an eye out for the AAR

I am building a Swede army.. From my experience so far.. If i win the terrain roll.. I pick Hilly.. The impassible has helped so much in the battles. When i lost the terrain roll, i lost.
But that is only 4 games as Swedes.. I have alot to learn about them and other armies.

Po-tae-toes! Mash 'em up and put 'em in a stew!

Could you give some details/examples of what the terrain was and how you used it?

I use the impassible and/or river to narrow the battle field.. Helping secure the flanks. I am usually always out numbered by 3-4 battle groups.(800pts) The impassible either.. Secures my flank(when on my side) or disrupts my opponents advance when on their side. He has to go around and looses time.. In the time i can beat up some units by the time they get into the battle... Of course i have not rolled to deploy it along the long edge.. So it would be useless if that would happen.
