Run Time Error
Another error, every patch is a real adventure with you guys.
I had 1.2.8 installed, today installed 1.2.9 and 1.3. Now when I try to run FoG, I get a runtime error. Of course I can't copy/paste the message, but the last line or two says:
failure condition: obj ->mRegItem(null)
Have tried opening/closing FoG several times, same result.
Have not tried purchasing IF yet.

of course there is a reason, I cannot select the text in the message box, so cannot copy it.
There is not much else other than the line i've already posted, just what looks like a path on my computer:
....Common\Win32\RegistryAccessors.cpp:164
and then the text I've already posted....that's all there is

The problem is probably with 1.3, because after installing 1.2.9 I used the in-game updater to install 1.3. Since then I cannot open 1.3. I thought I would try to re-install 1.3, but I can't use the in-game installer anymore (since I cannot open the game), and the patch does not seem to be available on your website. Moreover, I don't know if your in-game installer saved the patch when it was installed, and if so, where it might have saved it.

If you get a longer error, try screen printing it and posting the image on here (or maybe Slitherine will give you an e-mail address to post it to).76mm wrote:of course there is a reason, I cannot select the text in the message box, so cannot copy it.

I hope you get sorted soon

The most common corruption for all users with an issue is from users who were beta testers, this may or may not be the case for you.
What ever the case reinstalling the 1.2.8 patch always resets any issues and you can get further updates from there.
The move to 130 can be frustrating but once there further updates are likely to be small. fast and reliable giving us a system to deliver new scenarios and game features more easily to everyone. Apologies for the hassle.

OK, thanks. Any idea what the problem could be?
If it matters, I bought the Matrix version of FoG, but since then have used all of the Slither patches, and purchased the modules from Slither, without any serious problems.
[EDIT] I was not a beta tester. I run Windows XP. For me, the upgade to 1.2.9 seems to work, and then I use the in-game updater to update to 1.3.0; it seems to download, validate, and install, but then when I try to play the game, it get the described run-time error. Note that I can open the program and get the three options (play game, update, or view help file), and either of them other than view help file causes the error.
