So David - if we play this weekend what are the bets for the big mistake I make that throws my army away?

Hoping to keep evolving this format over time. mY observations on army choice ..

1. A number of Ottoman choices we defaults for people who said they hadn';t had time to think about the format enough ..... it will be interesting to see if planning pulls through over familiarity.
2. Quite a lot of knights, which I suspect means lots of people trying to all out for wins with the 700pt armies this year - should be exciting!
3. Latter probably driven by tweak to scoring system introduced, and am hopeful it will lea to some very interesting and nailbiting tussles.
4. 25mm has a lot of really strong front-line troops - and then one deviannt nutter running around on flimsy ancient chariots.

Will observe and review, but looking forward to it.

Even with a few Ottomans with 26 players the odds of playing more than 1 are not that high. Course the opening draw is on dates ... so you could have spread out a bit by going for Later Ottoman 1500AD:-)

oh I thought about the format , and decided that an army that I dont have, have never used, and never even considered would be the best choice for a multi list competition

well, obviously

Cool decision-making process. I like it.

Mine was ...I've spent ages basing therse damned New Kingdom Egyptians and they look nice .... I am taking them whatever.

Equally scientific.

So does that mean lots of Ottoman on Ottoman action first round?

But isn't there the small print that you don't play same club? Wayne & Keith for example?

And can I request to change my date to 1500 AD please? I don't want to play another Ottoman if I can avoid it!

Draw will be close to that with exception that I will avoid club members playing each other on day 1 - which might change it a bit.

Means my NkE get to play Lance and his Spartans! SO any moaning will wash straight off me!!

They could be a Mike Klaka Spartan. Swarms of rubbish. But even then they'd beat NKE

Thus the gauntlett is thrown down ... or is that the colourful feathered headband.

Yes in the small print is no family vs family at all and no club members vs each other on the first day.

The provisional 25mm opening round draw is as follows ... subject to no-shows. Should be no club or family match ups - let me know if there are.

Battle of Pharsalus on table two - who is Cesar we wonder!!!

And at least I got the numer 1 by taking the oldest army :-)

FOG 25mm Round 1 Draw

No. Name Army No. Name Army

1 Simon Hall (Ump) New Kingdom Egyptian vs 2 Lance Flint Classical Greek 480BC
3 Richard Jeffrey-Cook Late Republican Roman vs 4 Dave Allen Late Republican Roman
5 Gordon Jamieson Palmyran vs 7 Byron Emsen Free Company
6 Simon Elliot Dominate Roman vs 8 Nigel Emsen Med German City Leagues

Likewise 15mm draw. four people without a club on their sheets so possible there is a club match up to correct.

Only 1 Ottoman Civil War - sorry Pete you werer 2 years to young!! Time for the young Hammond to show the Old Sultan how its done!
