NO, if left in the garrison it uses 50% supply(which is 50% of its ap's) regardless of the season so in you example 800Blathergut wrote:So, an army of 400pts:

Yes?
*** I have a ? (raises hand, oh oh ohhh Mr Kotter!)
It appears we pay our troops every season (.25 of ap) so this winter, if I raise a 400 pt army, do I front $400.00 and then pay 100 additionally each season?? or I only pay 100 initially and then the balance of 300 in three easy installments??

Uh in Chris's example, wouldnt buying up to level 5 in all three profiencies cost $ 165 and not 75 i thought the cost of each level was cumulativekeyth wrote:Yes, that's how it works. Bearing in mind that proficiencies are relative rather than 'levels', I think an arms race mentality may occur (I hope sobatesmotel wrote:I think it's 1 for level 1, 4 for level 2, 9 for level 3. So 25% of your budget should buy a substantial number of levels. I think this may still be too cheap but I guess we can see. Buying all three up to level 5 would be 75 so still pretty cheap.
Chris). Early on, I guess that facilities and armies will take precedence, and proficiencies will be thrown the change. Once you get serious numbers, the squaring factor makes it seriously expensive to advance you proficiencies.
All that said, the proof is in the playingIf it seems not to work, we shall adapt and overcome. If the campaign format works, an Outremer campaign for Swords & Scimitars could be entertaining, but I get ahead of myself!
1, 4, 9 , 16, 25 adds up to 55 to get to level 5 in one profiency , for all 3 , $165

You were supposed to ask for a free settllement, not move the port!Blathergut wrote:TheGrayMouser wrote:I just realize i appear to have an ilegal port, ie per the rules no port can exist in a county unless a settlement exists.....
Per the Map one other player does as well.....
Hmmm...move mine to Z6 I guess.
Nice try! I go to bed and all these questions crop up!TheGrayMouser wrote:You were supposed to ask for a free settllement, not move the port!
*"one build event per year", so I can build a fort, or improve a farm but not both in any one county
*so basically can upgade multiple levels in all 3 profiencies, if i want to spend
* I am ok w 800 ap's max but if a list cant buy it should be reduced to that lists max cap
Yes, yes and OK. You can do one 'thing' with facilities in each county for each year, whether that is build or upgrade.
So, an army of 400pts:
-will cost 400 florin by the end of the year in pay
-if garrisoned the whole time, will use 200 supply in spring + 200 summer + 300 fall + 600 winter = 1300 supply
Yes?
No. Garrisoning costs 50% supply regardless of season. Please note that supply production and costs are the area of the campaign that will need most tuning, so please don't despair just yet! Two 'harvests' per year is looking very likely at the moment - one in winter after your reeves have been out collecting your tithes and another in summer when they go and take what the pesky peasants hid first time around!

You don't need to pay an army in the turn that it is created. Disbanding armies is always an option in the lean months (how much do you trust your neighbours?

Correct.
I just realize i appear to have an ilegal port, ie per the rules no port can exist in a county unless a settlement exists.....
I am not overly bothered by this to be honest. With the '10 grades' cap on facilities per county, forcing you to have a port and settlement in the same county seems overly punitive. If anyone would like to move their port in light of this, please let me know.
Thanks for all the constructive questions!
Cheers.

This is the tricky bit!Blathergut wrote:Been trying to work stuff out. Even a 300pt army will suck up all income (supply, that is)(well, unless we collect twice) in the year!

Re-formatted rules, including proper contents page plus all convocation and fate cards. PLEASE NOTE the changes to the way that the 'Garrison' value for counties is calculated and let me know what you think. Siege supply has also been clarified.

Oh , another quick question....
If I build a level one fleet and next year i have a level 2 port... Can i upgrade the fleet or would I just need to disband and rebuild...
Oh, also mercenaries... Are mercenaries soly going to augment your armies aps (example I have a 400 ap army, hire 100 in mercenaries and now simply have a 500 ap army) or are they a seperate army althogher (from a list you chose?)
Cheers

Good thinking! I'll add it to the rules - a fleet can upgrade in the improved port for the normal cost per grade, and you can upgrade more than one grade (so a grade 1 fleet in a grade 3 port can upgrade to 3 in one season).TheGrayMouser wrote:Oh , another quick question....

Mercenaries are a separate army from a list declared at the Convocation. It's easier to maintain this way and allows some fun with different army lists.Oh, also mercenaries...
