RAR Files?

What is the big deal with RAR files? Doesn't anyone in Europe use zip files? Just curious.....

Same thing really just different files names.

There both names for compressing files.
Usually any program which opens one will work on the work too.

Windows unzipper can't read the files???

I downloaded a RAR extractor, but it's only good for 40 days and then I have to buy it!!

Are you speaking for WinRar?
After the 40 days you can still use it.

Yes WinRar was the one that I downloaded. According to the install program there is a 40 day trial period and then you have to purchase a license! Not going to happen for a couple of scenario's?

You can also use 7zip: http://www.7-zip.org/

It's free and supports all the major compression formats.

rar files have much better compression than zip files which is why we use them.
