Field repair applies to vehicles only.

Very good list - well done. When you posted your previous list, I was thinking the most useful aspect is not the overall rating of heroes (as you usually can't choose them) but rather what unit type they are best assigned to (as that's what you can choose), so having that column on the sheet was very useful.

I don't disagree with many of the assessments. I read somewhere that fighters in particular benefit from heroes that give attack, defence or initiative bonuses as fighter vs fighter combat is often quite closely matched, so every edge is useful. With ground units, you can often use rock-paper-scissors or suppression to get an edge but not typically with air combat. Similarly, I tend to put no retailiation on my best fighter to help get air superiority. I find the entrenchment busting heroes can be good on fighters, as such units are rather wasted after you have won air supremacy.

It's a minority view, but I rather like vigilant on infantry units. Yes, it's great on tanks but tanks are great anyway in open terrain whereas infantry often struggles to do the job it's supposed to do (fight in close terrain). Non-engineers having to use their close defence makes them rather squishy as defenders of close terrain. (You could exclusively use engineers but I like more historical OOBs). I might have gotten the idea from Azul infantry, which are prized because they have some close defence. I also like unyielding on infantry - again it makes them much more sturdy as defenders and also in assaulting strongly defended positions.

If you wanted to take this further, you could have another sheet listing good hero combos, perhaps specific to unit classes.

Thank you for replying!

My aim for these spreadsheets was more aimed toward beginners or casual players who want to assign a hero quickly to their troop knowing the hero will do something useful, or not waste too much time looking on the web. Also, to share some of my knowledge of the game.

Yes, I could do a combo spreadsheet, but I honestly think i would do players a disfavour, as finding the right combos can be fun. I also don't want to give away the game breaking ones :(

If the spreadsheets serve anyone, then i am happy! They might just become dusty relics.

Update!

Somehow i missed Leadership, so i added it, +1 initiative to all adjacent units, rating B, best used on support units like TD,Arty,AA
minor changes;
Liberator, recon rating to A+
Vigilant, added Inf.

Also, a little discussion on Liberator + recon. Imho Liberator is the most useful hero to put on a scout. Capture all the cities, objectives, supply depots etc. for double the amount of prestige, which is significant after 9 axis operations!!! (Spain, 1939 to 1946). It means almost doubling all the prestige that we were supposed to get, it is game changing. It doesn't change anything to the scout fighting strength though, that's why i didn't give it the S rating.

Let me know if you guys find other missing traits.
Salutations to all Panzer Corps players!

Yes, Liberator only really makes sense on recon units. For me, it’s a nice-to-have hero. The prestige bonus gives you a decent boost in the early years, but it becomes almost negligible later in the campaign.

Let’s say there are 20 cities to capture in 1943. That’s 20 × 50 = 1,000 prestige. If you make good use of a recon unit with Liberator and capture all those cities, you’ll earn an additional 1,000 prestige.

On the other hand, if you force an enemy tank to surrender using certain heroes, you can get the same amount of prestige in a single encounter.

I’m not counting caches and stuff, because IMO Liberator shouldn’t work on those. A cache is a cache — there’s nothing to liberate there!

So yeah, not the worst hero, not the best. You always have to work on it. I sometimes forget about it or my units it out of place. Using a good camo on the units helps remind yourself :)

As prestige is always plentiful, economic heroes are largely irrelevant to the game. Liberator is at most C+

Scavenger (=A) is much more useful, it captures 2x equipment, which not only gives loads of prestige, but also works very well if enemy units are better than yours (or if you play with denied artillery).

There are a few more ratings I would change:
Aiming assistance also adds experience for every use, which can be several times per turn. (B- -> A)
Crippling Blow is *made for* Fighter planes, and Fast Learner is also useful (Fighters level up slowly).
Field repairs is very useful for limited supply vehicles (and also with Delayed Reinforcements/Green army trait).
Fearsome Reputation is very useful for capturing units. Also blunts adjacent attacks.
Reduced slots is S or S-, it rounds slots down, so 7->3 etc. Zero Slots is S+
Shock tactics is especially useful on artillery, and air units.
Vigilant makes Tanks (etc) very powerful in close terrain against infantry. Initiative cap still hurts though.

Both my scouts have liberator, and for my playstyle i wouldn't do otherwise! I don't think personally that prestige is plentiful, at least without liberator. I think we have just enough, especially on harder diffuclty like generalissimo and harder.

yes Scavenger is useful, and A is a useful hero. It's not always easy though to capture enemy equipment throughout all the Axis Operations.

As for the rest of your ratings, you gave me food for thought! thanks.

CB for example, on fighter planes its useful, but later in the war when the Soviet army get stronger planes. Early more useful on tanks and TB to get rid of the t34s...yes? no? but yeah i will add Fighter planes to CB! good call.

Aiming assistance ==> Yeah, very good hero in the early years of war. The hero loses importance over time...
Field repairs ==> Like you said, depence on your playstyle. Most of the time I dont have to spare a unit, so it can repair turn by turn.
Fearsome Reputation ==> not working for my playstyle. Might be good in early years, but later when units are >15, you dont have the time to let it take effect. And you need to work for it. Have the right unit with the right hero exactly at the place, where you need it...

@DefiantXYX Cutting supply is the most powerful feature in PC2. 2 suppression, -5% efficiency, -1 initiative, there is no recovery and it is cumulative over time. Deadly Grasp (only 1 trait point) doubles that. Ammo and fuel gets depleted.

It greatly reduces (or prevents) damage your units take, especially with 10-strength enemy units. And it enables capturing the full value (minus 1) of them. Generalissimus more or less demands this style of capturing.

With Fearsome Reputation, a 10-strength encircled unit will suppressed by 7 points (with Deadly Grasp) already before the artillery and/or strat bombers kick in (combined arms is also key in PC2). Even very strong enemy tanks succumb quickly, with the added bonus that you get to deploy them for yourself.

If you're a fan of bloody battles, yes then you will be short of prestige. But not in a capturing style. A small disadvantage is that without heavy fighting, experience buildup is slower (but you also don't need lots of veteran replacements).

Like I said before, recently I havent played campaigns with 10 strength units. With David vs Goliath, you fight atleast against 15 strength units. If your units are at 10, the enemy is still stronger, so you need other ways to protect your core.
Sure, if you combine that hero with traits and encirclement it gets stronger. If you play the AO Redone mod, which might be the hardest campaign to play, you wont have a lot chances to encircle anything. I am not saying the hero is useless, but if play on very hard stetings you need better stuff.

'Better stuff' meaning units with a combination of several heroes? Aka 'Doomstacks' as one youtube-gamer calls them?
Not a fan. If the normal game becomes so easy as to require +5 strength enemy units, then it's time to move on.
And in my view, then also encircling remains the single most effective way to handle strong enemy units.
