Allied Operations: Italy Vol.1 Bugs?!

Post by DefiantXYX »

Hello there,

since I like to play this game again and from what I know this is a little campaign with upcoming connected DLCs I give this one a try.
But I might have discovered some bugs.
- units dont get the "survivor" award. I noticed units that had 5 actions in a turn and did not get it.
- british commandos should be camoflaged. But the AI seems them like normal units
- Right now I attacked the prisoner unit with a Shock Attack hero. Alhtough I had a hit, the unit could move.

I have over 2000 hours played and never noticed bugs like that. Can anyone confirm this, or is it just me?

Oh and fog of war seems to be something only for the player. AI knows how to find my units in the back :D

I generally don’t get that impression.

Generally, the game does not use info it should not have. But bombers *do* attack an unprotected unit even if it is a long way from the front (in the middle of open terrain). I go back and put a recon plane over my unit before hitting end-of-turn, the bomber attacks another location (even though it is covered by AA). If I move my recon plane, but just next to my unit, the bomber reverts to attacking it.

Clear proof of the fog of war lifted. Incidentally, there also is an example of he fog of war lifted for the player ;)
It occurs when hovering over enemy flag locations. If there is a unit there, the game will show it for you...

I have been tinkering with this a bit and found the AI doesn't necessarily see through Fog of War as much as it has a memory of sorts (not to say it occasionally doesn't see through the fog for reasons unknown). I find that if I move after I'm spotted, the AI loses track of my unit. If I remain in the same hex, it will attack.

Did your unit destroy an AI unit (thus revealing its location) and remain in the same hex? If so, this might account for the FOW mystery. I have found the same for camouflaged units. If they are adjacent to an AI and are discovered, they tend to remain visible and get attacked even if the AI unit that discovered them is destroyed.

My tests are not exactly methodical or comprehensive, but they are generally repeatable in the limited number I've run.

Bombers have a long range and can attack units they haven’t spotted themselves but have been detected by other units.
