Shock stat?

Post by JerryCornelius42 »

How exactly does this stat work?

I know it affects Efficiency, but its value ranges from 10 to 25 (I think I've even seen 5, but never more than 25), so how does that number translate into the actual reduction of Efficiency?

For example, a strategic bomber with a Shock value of 25 is supposed to reduce Efficiency more than one with a Shock value of 20, but is that difference actually noticeable in-game? 🤔

Thanks in advance for any clarification

yeah it is a bit noticeable. And engineer with shock value 10 attacking will reduce efficiency by 1 or 2. Often just 1, but if he himself is at full efficiency, his first attacl will reduce enemy efficiency by 2.

bombers with shock value 20 will reduce efficiency by 2 as long as they are at full strength themselves. They will also reduce supply of a bombed city by 2

I have never actually noticed Efficiency being reduced by more than 2 points. That's why I'm wondering what the advantage is of using the best strategic bombers over an engineer unit or even a tactical bomber... at least when it comes to reducing Efficiency, of course😉

well a plane can attack without being attacked back. An engineer will suffer a lot of losses.

But the effect of efficiency.. well, it is not gigantic, but it is noticeable.

A unit at efficiency 10 has a powerful attack and will often force the enemy unit to retreat.
Efficiency 8 or 9 are still capable.
Efficiency 5 or lower is basically useless. Don't deal much damage.

I think you will notice these differences after some time too

Yeah, I get it's confusing as the "shock" stats are displayed as parts of 100 and the "efficiency" stats as 10. But basically a "shock" value of 40 will reduce efficiency by 4.
And even if the internal rounding in the game may show only 1 efficiency loss when attacked by an unit with 15 shock; if you attack twice, efficiency will drop by 3.

Especially when playing on higher difficulties, damaging the efficiency of enemy units becomes more important than actual damage to strength points. Some units, as the German Wurfrahmen, the Soviet Katyusha or the US Superfortress have "shock" stats of around 30-40. If you hit a Tiger-tank twice with those units, even a Bautruppe or Soviet conscript unit can finish it off. Even entrenchment doesn't really matter anymore then.

When playing, my first and foremost priority is to find and destroy all "artillery" type of enemy units ASAP. Flying or on the ground. Probably the flying ones first, though... :)
