Swuul Egyptian 664-571 with Assyrian defeats Bodhran Jewish 163-111 61-36





The Egyptian army set up in a long line, while the Jewish army concentrated up on the rough hill on the egyptian left flank. The Egyptian left flank pretty much collapsed before the reinforcements from the right reached the fight, and the battle line effectively took a 90 degree to left. In the end the rough hill steeps were too rough even for the Zealots too to attack from, and they began to fall under egyptian archery, and were eventually enveloped.

The Persian position had a woods on each flank, while the Lusitanians(Spanish) had a wide flat hill on their left. The Persians deployed their archers from flank to flank, with cavalry on each flank, and a central cavalry reserve. The Lusitanians leaned heavily on their medium infantry Caetrati units, screened by the light Caetrati, with smaller cavalry forces to each flank. The Persian cavalry held their own or better on each flank, while the Lusitanians managed to close to melee against the main Persian bow (Sparabara and Persian Immortals), taking most of the inevitable arrows with their screening light troops. But that central battle was still undecided at the end, with the decisive result coming from the complete rout of the defenders of the Persian left woods, where the massed archers in particular couldn't stand up to the Lusitanian Caetrati.

game was mostly a fight in fields, Selucids pushing slowly forward at the end the Jewish recovered and the momentum began to turn, but the Selucids just managed to get over the line.
