Roman Disaster!

Having almost won the first battle of Voisinii, the Roman general was optimistic that a decisive victory could be obtained in the comparatively farvourable terrain of Voisinii II.

After the first few moves, his Italians had taken (been given?) the hill on the Etruscan right, and things were looking high risk but equal.Image

But his troops were not having any of that. Having force marched to Clusium on turn 1, and fought a tough battle, they had had enough - and promptly and disastrously failed cohesion check on first contact with the enemy. Meanwhile, the Etruscans had been reinvigorated by their new recruits, to the extent that the rabble stood up to a Roman legion charging downhill.

And the Etruscan general staff ruthlessly exploited every mistake, leading to an inglorious Roman defeat.

The troops made it clear that they were never fighting under that Consol again, choosing to scatter to the four winds (retreat DR 2 - reduce defender status 2 levels - plus the status reduction for 40% casualties) instead of rallying on Voisinii.

It was a nice battle because everything went for the best, all the time, no unpleasant surprises, no clumsy dice.
The gods, it seems, have blessed us. Normal, given that Clusium and Voisinii are our ancestral lands, legally ours.

To answer your question, yes, we gave you this hill, our right flank was just a decoy intended to expand your lines with expendable units (they were not aware of that). The rabbles were not supposed to resist your furious attack, but when life gives you lemon... well !

Always a pleasure to meet you in the field !

As a result of the battle the Second Etruscan Army will advance in the vacated hex.

Etruscans gain 2 Momentum : Decisive Victory + Army Eliminated.
