Re: Vae Victis - Romans vs. Etruscans: Ongoing
Roman Disaster!
Having almost won the first battle of Voisinii, the Roman general was optimistic that a decisive victory could be obtained in the comparatively farvourable terrain of Voisinii II.
After the first few moves, his Italians had taken (been given?) the hill on the Etruscan right, and things were looking high risk but equal.![Image]()
But his troops were not having any of that. Having force marched to Clusium on turn 1, and fought a tough battle, they had had enough - and promptly and disastrously failed cohesion check on first contact with the enemy. Meanwhile, the Etruscans had been reinvigorated by their new recruits, to the extent that the rabble stood up to a Roman legion charging downhill.
And the Etruscan general staff ruthlessly exploited every mistake, leading to an inglorious Roman defeat.
The troops made it clear that they were never fighting under that Consol again, choosing to scatter to the four winds (retreat DR 2 - reduce defender status 2 levels - plus the status reduction for 40% casualties) instead of rallying on Voisinii.

It was a nice battle because everything went for the best, all the time, no unpleasant surprises, no clumsy dice.
The gods, it seems, have blessed us. Normal, given that Clusium and Voisinii are our ancestral lands, legally ours.
To answer your question, yes, we gave you this hill, our right flank was just a decoy intended to expand your lines with expendable units (they were not aware of that). The rabbles were not supposed to resist your furious attack, but when life gives you lemon... well !
Always a pleasure to meet you in the field !
As a result of the battle the Second Etruscan Army will advance in the vacated hex.
Etruscans gain 2 Momentum : Decisive Victory + Army Eliminated.

Hello, I am Teodor. Just wanted to say that I would like to participate in this type of campaigns when possible. Didn't mean to ruin your posts here, but I didn't get a reply in PM.

It was going really good. I have succesfuuly outflnked him at the right wing, 2 chariots from LW penetrated lines going to the rear of enemy center. I was optimistic. Then the center broke.
Re: Vae Victis - Romans vs. Etruscans: Ongoing
Etruscan army gained a decisive victory. +1 momentum. Etruscan momentum is now at 3.
Gallic Army status is reduced 1 level to weakened.
Gallic rolled 9 on retreat table. No additional loss. Gallic army retreat to NW.

1st Etruscan army will advance to the hex left open by the Gallic army. The barbarians will pay for their insolence!
Etruscan operations coming soon.

Etruscan Army II moves:
NW: 4 = 4 (Hills) => Moves to NW and halts until a new round of operations.
The Etruscan army have taken their time to bury the dead and give proper homage to the gods that granted the victory. They were also too encumbered by the new spoils obtained from the baggage train captured. Yet, the army is eager for more glory.

Also I would like to point out an error on the map, The second etruscan army is shown to be in the city of Clusium in the latest version that was sent by ilpars. The army moved south in the hex vacated by the roman army, like Maeglyr showed in his post. Please tell me if I am wrong, as I am still grasping the rules for this campaign and I thought that I messed up looking at the wrong map.
Re: Vae Victis - Romans vs. Etruscans: Ongoing
Yes you are right. I will correct it.
Re: Vae Victis - Romans vs. Etruscans: Ongoing
Gallic army retreats to Luna. Rolled 6 +1 retreat before battle = 7 No other casualty.

Etruscan army I moves:
NW: 5+1 for moving along road = 6 > 4 (Hills) => allows move and another attempt for the army.
The etruscan army is in the ZOC of the gallic army, so we await if the gauls will give battle.

Re: Vae Victis - Romans vs. Etruscans: Ongoing
Sorry Guys, I moved the wrong Etruscan army in the last map correcting now.
My reaction should be now:
Gallic army retreats to Luna. Rolled 6 +1 retreat before battle = 7 No other casualty.
Corrected map is coming.

1st Etruscan army stays and prepares for battle.
This should be end of operations for the etruscan side this turn.
