Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer – Quick Guide v1.2.1 and higher

The Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer is a read-only tool for browsing the units contained in the Panzer Corps equipment.pzeqp file. It allows players to search units, filter them by nation and class, check availability dates, view full statistics, and display the corresponding BigUnit image and national flag.

Installation

Unzip and Run:

PanzerCorpsEquipmentViewer_Setup_x64.exe

Follow the installer steps. The program installs like a normal Windows application and can create shortcuts in the Start Menu and on the Desktop.

The viewer is designed for 64-bit Windows and does not require players to install .NET, Inno Setup, Visual Studio, or any other development software.

Location Confirmation Screen

When the viewer is launched for the first time, and once after each program update, it asks for the required Panzer Corps file and folder locations.

The previous locations are remembered and automatically filled in after an update.

You must select:

equipment.pzeqp

Select the main Panzer Corps equipment file used by your installation.
Example:

...\Data\equipment.pzeqp
BigUnits folder
Select the folder containing the large unit pictures.
Example:

...\UI\BigUnits
The program loads the BigUnit image using the exact PNG filename listed in the equipment file. If there is no BigUnit image, it will show "missing" in the stats section.

Flags folder

Select the folder containing the national flag icons.
Example:

...\UI\flags
After checking the locations, click:

Confirm and Continue

The same locations are used on later launches unless they are changed manually.

Main Viewer

The main window is divided into two areas.

The left side contains the search and filtering tools together with the unit list.

The right side displays the selected unit, its national flag, BigUnit picture, full name, and equipment statistics.

File Menu

The File menu allows you to change the paths used by the viewer and reload the equipment database.

Typical options include:
Change equipment.pzeqp location
Change BigUnits folder location
Change Flags folder location
Reload equipment file
Exit
Reload Equipment File
This is useful for modders and players using an updated equipment file.

After replacing or editing equipment.pzeqp, select:

File → Reload equipment file

The viewer reloads the latest equipment data without needing to be restarted.

The viewer is completely read-only and never modifies the equipment file.

Search Bar

The search bar searches only the unit's:

Short Name
Full Name

The search is not case-sensitive.
For example, searching:

I-16

may find:

I-16 Typ 5
I-16 Typ 10
I-16 Typ 18
I-16 Typ 24

Searching:

Polikarpov

can find units whose full name contains Polikarpov.
The search does not use the PNG filename, traits, statistics, theatre, series, or transport information.

Nation Filter

The Nation filter shows units belonging to a selected country.
For example:

Germany
United Kingdom
United States
Soviet Union
France
Italy
Poland
Belgium
Netherlands
Romania
Hungary
Finland
Japan
Selecting:

All nations

shows units from every nation.

When a unit is selected, its national flag is displayed beside the unit information.

Class Filter

The Class filter allows units to be displayed by equipment type.

Available classes include:

Infantry
Tank
Recon
Anti-Tank
Artillery
Anti-Air
Structure
Fighter
Bomber
Level Bomber
Submarine
Destroyer
Cruiser/Battleship
Aircraft Carrier
Ground Transport
Air Transport
Sea Transport
Rail Transport
Armored Train
For example:

Nation: Romania
Class: Tank

shows only Romanian tank units.
Filters can also be combined with the search bar and date filter.

Available on Date

The viewer can show only units that are available on a selected date.

Enable:

Available on date

and select the required date.

Dates are handled in the equipment file format:

DD.MM.YYYY
Example:

03.08.1941
The viewer checks both:

Available From
Available Till

and displays only units available on that date.

This is particularly useful for campaign and scenario design.
For example:

Nation: Soviet Union
Class: Fighter
Date: 03.08.1941
shows Soviet fighters available according to the equipment file on that date.

Malformed date entries are shown as invalid rather than being guessed.

Show Reserved Entries

Some equipment IDs are reserved placeholders rather than normal playable units.

These are hidden by default.

Enable:

Show reserved entries

to display them in the unit list.

Most players will normally leave this option disabled.

Unit List

The unit list shows all equipment records matching the active filters.

Each entry displays the short unit name and its equipment ID.
Example:

I-16 Typ 5 [1223]
Click a unit to display its full information on the right side of the viewer.

Unit Information

The right side of the viewer displays the selected unit's BigUnit picture and detailed statistics.
Information can include:

ID
Nation
Class
Cost
Max Ammo
Max Fuel
Movement
Spotting
Range
Initiative
Soft Attack
Hard Attack
Air Attack
Naval Attack
Ground Defense
Air Defense
Close Defense
Target Type
Movement Type
Rate of Fire
Max Strength
Available From
Available Till
Icon
Add Traits
Remove Traits
Series
Multipurpose
Theatre
Usable Transports
Transport Category
The exact values are read directly from the selected equipment.pzeqp file.

BigUnit Picture

The large unit picture is loaded from the selected BigUnits folder.

The viewer uses the exact image filename stored in the equipment file.
For example:

Polikarpov_I-16.png

is loaded as:

BigUnits\Polikarpov_I-16.png
The image is displayed while preserving its original proportions and transparency.

Read-Only Operation

The Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer is a read-only application (for now).

It can:

Read
Search
Filter
Display
Reload

It cannot:

Edit
Delete
Overwrite
Save changes to equipment.pzeqp

New in v 1.3.2:

Starting with version 1.3.2, the Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer uses an editable nations.json file stored in the program installation folder.

This file contains the link between each nation ID and the country name shown in the viewer. It can be edited with a normal text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++.

The version number of the program is from now on visible in the bottom right corner of the main screen of the equipment viewer.

What’s New in v1.4.0

Version 1.4.0 introduces optional historical unit photographs displayed beside the existing 256 × 256 BigUnit preview.

Users can now select an optional Historical Unit Pictures folder. The viewer matches images using the unit icon filename and supports .jpg, .jpeg, and .png files. When no matching picture is available, the program simply shows a neutral message.

This version also adds a new Help menu at the far right of the menu bar, containing the User Guide, nations.json instructions, privacy information, and an About window.

New File-menu options allow users to change or clear the historical-picture folder at any time. All previous features, including editable nation names, filters, date availability, flags, and read-only operation, remain unchanged.

The program does not ask for, collect, or require any personal information. It only asks for the local locations of the Panzer Corps files and folders needed to display equipment data and graphics.

What's new in v1.5.3?

The v1.5.x series introduces the new Army Generator system, expanding the viewer from an equipment browser into a practical force-building tool.

Added in v1.6.0

Axis vs Allies Generator
Class 19 is now correctly identified

Added in v1.6.3

The v1.6.3 update expand the Army Generator system, improve the unit-information layout, and introduce a new built-in flag-set system.

What’s New in v1.7.4

The v1.7.x series introduces two major new features: the Weather Predictor and the OOB Generator, together with a large number of interface, database, compatibility, and installer improvements.

What's New in v1.8.6

The v1.8.x series expands the program well beyond equipment browsing, adding new editing, printing, naming, localization, and generator feature

What's New in V1.9.4

The v1.9.x series transformed the original Equipment Viewer into the broader Panzer Corps Toolkit.

Now that’s something I wasn’t expecting!

This is going to be a really useful tool when setting up scenarios. Until now, whenever I wanted to compare several units, I’d create a scenario featuring the factions I was interested in, then open the purchase screen to compare their stats. It was either that or checking the equipment file line by line. Either way, it was pretty tedious.

I’ve already installed it and I really appreciate it :)

Thanks a lot!

I’m currently testing it with the Modern Conflicts mod :

Image

Everything works fine, with one exception:
Since the factions have been reworked, I have a long list of "unknown" factions. Is there any way for the program to check the faction names?

Example :

Image

Norway is "Unknow" (34)

That said, it's nothing serious. I just have to experiment until I find the faction that interests me. Once that's done, I haven't run into any other issues.

PS : In a funny note, the bigunit pictures from real world used in Akkula's mod make the program look like a genuine weapons database :lol:

The program has been updated for Imeror.
v1.3.2: https://www.mediafire.com/file/pn6y4faz ... 2.rar/file
.
Changes:

The version number is now visible in the bottom right corner of the viewer.

Starting with version 1.3.2 (release), the Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer uses an editable nations.json file stored in the program installation folder.

This file contains the link between each nation ID in the equipment file and the country name shown in the viewer. It can be edited with a normal text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++.
For example:

"14": "Romania"

can be changed to:

"14": "Kingdom of Romania"
You can also add new nations, for example:
"34": "China",
"35": "Denmark"
The viewer uses the nation ID from equipment.pzeqp and automatically looks for the matching flag image using:

Flag image number = Nation ID + 1

So Nation ID 34 uses:

35.png

After editing and saving nations.json, use:

File → Reload nation names

to apply the changes without restarting the program.

Change to the Nation dropdown (File menu)

Starting with version 1.3.2, the Nation dropdown now shows the complete list of countries defined in nations.json.

Previously, the dropdown only showed nations that were already used by units in equipment.pzeqp.

This means that newly added countries now appear immediately after reloading the nation list, even if they do not yet have any units assigned to them.

Selecting a nation with no matching units will simply show:

Showing 0 records

This makes it easier to prepare new countries in advance and expand the equipment database later.

The nations.json file also has simple instruction how to add nations to the list.

Great, thanks for this excellent tool.

Would it be possible to include the "Units" image in addition to the "Bigunits" one?
I’m attaching a screenshot showing what you could do, provided it doesn't involve too much work.

I’ve always liked real photos of military vehicles because they help you understand, without having to use your imagination, what a particular unit actually looked like!

Image
There are plenty of photographs like this of aircraft from the Second World War. But in reality, these aircraft did not look quite so grey and gloomy.

In fact, this is a glamorous, pale pink fighter from the Second World War. And that’s no coincidence.
Some fighter planes during the Second World War were so specialised that they only flew at certain times of day. The beautiful pink RAF aircraft of the US 16th Squadron had a major advantage — they became virtually invisible at both sunset and sunrise.

And these ‘glamorous’ fighters do look rather fun. In fact, it was a truly clever tactic — to create ‘invisible’ aircraft even back then.

What’s more, turning an old photo into a colour one isn’t a problem ) The only problem is colouring it correctly, as it would have looked historically )))

v1.4.0: https://www.mediafire.com/file/9c29n12g ... 0.rar/file
.
Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer v1.4.0

Version 1.4.0 adds optional historical unit photographs, a new Help menu, and several usability improvements.

New: Historical Unit Pictures

The viewer can now display a real historical photograph beside the existing BigUnit image.

The preview area now shows:

the Panzer Corps BigUnit image on the left;
an optional historical unit picture on the right.

The BigUnit preview remains fixed at:

256 × 256 pixels

Historical pictures are scaled to fit the available space while preserving their original proportions. Images are never stretched.

Optional folder

After updating to v1.4.0, the location confirmation screen includes a new field:

Historical Unit Pictures folder (optional)

This folder is not required. The viewer continues to work normally when no historical-picture folder is selected.

Use Browse to choose a folder or Clear to remove the saved location.

Picture matching

Historical pictures are matched using the base filename of the unit icon.
For example:

Equipment icon:
Wehrmacht_Inf.png
The viewer searches for:
Wehrmacht_Inf.jpg
Wehrmacht_Inf.jpeg
Wehrmacht_Inf.png
inside the selected historical-picture folder.
The search order is:

.jpg
.jpeg
.png
When no matching picture is found, the viewer displays:

No historical image available

This is not treated as an error.

New File-menu options

The File menu now includes options to manage the optional historical-picture folder:

Change historical pictures folder
Clear historical pictures folder

Changing the folder immediately updates the image lookup used by the viewer.

New Help menu

Version 1.4.0 adds a new Help menu at the far right of the menu bar.

The Help menu includes:

User Guide
How to edit nations.json
Privacy Information
About
User Guide

Explains:

required file and folder locations;
search and filtering;
date availability;
BigUnit and historical images;
read-only operation.
How to edit nations.json

Explains how to:

rename countries;
add new nation IDs;
reload nation names;

calculate flag filenames using:
Nation ID + 1

Privacy Information

Confirms that the viewer:

does not request personal information;
does not require an account;
does not collect names, email addresses, passwords, or payment information;
only reads the local Panzer Corps files and folders selected by the user.

About

The About window displays the program name, version, platform, and:

Made by Nikivdd
Location confirmation after updating

On the first launch of v1.4.0, the program asks you to confirm the required locations again.

Previous entries are automatically filled in.

The screen now includes:

equipment.pzeqp
BigUnits folder
Flags folder
Historical Unit Pictures folder (optional)

After confirming the locations, later launches of the same version open normally.

Installing the update

Version 1.4.0 can be installed directly over the previous version.
You do not need to uninstall the old version first.
Saved locations and customized nation settings should remain available after the update.

Version display
The current program version is shown in the bottom-right corner of the main window:

v1.4.0
Read-only operation

The Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer remains fully read-only.
It does not modify:
equipment.pzeqp
BigUnit images
flag images
historical unit pictures

The only editable support file is:
nations.json
which controls the nation names shown in the viewer.
.
Some test screenshots, the units don't match up but i used a quick random image to check if the update is working.

The hardest part is isolating just one section of the graphic.

mgarnett managed to do it in his Equipment/FX/Campaign Editor.

If you could include the full image to start with, that would be great.

"The BigUnit preview remains fixed at:

256 × 256 pixels"

The size of the Bigunits files is 240x165.

The right window can show the picture you want, you can chose a folder with historical photos or the folder that has the 4 unit icons.

The vanilla size is 256 by 256, 240 by 165 is most likely a custom bigunit?

Oups, It's true, I've been using the Bigunits from Battlefield Europe for a long time.

Re: PzC Equipment Viewer - Army Generator v1.5.3 (11/07/26)

Post by nikivdd »

v1.5.3: https://www.mediafire.com/file/mqey0nko ... 3.rar/file
.
The v1.5.x series introduces the new Army Generator system, expanding the viewer from an equipment browser into a practical force-building tool.

A new Army menu has been added between File and Help, while Help remains the rightmost menu.

The Army menu includes:

Historical Army Generator
Balanced Random Army Generator
Budget Army Generator
Scenario-Date Army Generator
Nation vs Nation Generator
Chaotic Army Generator
Saved Armies

Players can select up to five nations, choose an availability date, set army size and, where applicable, apply a maximum cost limit.

All generators permanently exclude units with the traits:
nopurchase
bonus
The balanced generators create logical force compositions using infantry, tanks, reconnaissance, artillery, anti-tank, anti-aircraft and limited air support in sensible proportions.

The Chaotic Army Generator deliberately creates irrational and difficult army compositions for players looking for an unusual challenge.

The Historical Army Generator uses editable generic formation templates stored in:
army_templates.json
These templates can be modified or expanded.

The v1.5.x series also adds:

editable generic army templates;
saved generated armies;
cost totals and remaining budget displays;
separate army generation for two opposing nations;
scrollable army result tables;
improved generator window layouts;
corrected alignment of the optional historical-picture folder field;
updated generator and template help documentation.

Comments and suggestions welcome.
