Camping Out
During my opponent's last turn, his routing BG (R) managed to outdistance my pursuing BG (P). As my turn begins, R is beside its camp and almost to it. P declares a charge and plows into R. During my JAP, R routs off the table and P's pursuit takes it into contact with the enemy camp. It appears to me that P is now looting the camp and can take a CMT to stop looting during my opponent's next turn JAP.
However, page 78 says "Troops move into contact with the enemy camp in the manoeuvre phase. This is not a charge." Since pursuits are treated as charges (p. 108), do I have to wait until my own next maneuver phase to contact the camp and then take the CMT during my own JAP?
Thanks. Terry G.

If a pursuit, or charging something else causes the camp to be contacted it is looted.

I still would say the same. IMO you cannot become looters while you are a pursuers. Even if this can seem inconsistent (I guess the enemy camp is not fortified so you don't need a roll to sack). In my opinion, a BG pursuing need a while to realize there is a booty near; so you can:
- contact enemy camp in JAP
- do nothing until your next manoeuvre phase
- follow normal procedure to loot camp

Ahh, but as happened in a recent game (I was watching, I didn't do the darstardly act or have it performed against me) the routing unit 'R' was charged in the rear, and the charge path was toward the enemy baggage, thus the persuit was toward the baggage. (actually, now that I think about it I think it was an evade, not a rout, but similar situation).marioslaz wrote:I would say your BG P should pursue R up to table border and not change objective directing toward enemy camp. Looting enemy camp it seems to be a voluntary action (you do it with a move in manoeuvre phase) and not the result of a mandatory movement as pursuing.
