Division E result:
SirMichael (Palmyran) defeats wzfcns (Caucasian) 40 - 11
The power of the Roman legion was too much for the numerous but mostly medium troops of the Caucasian's. The power of Rome is starting to show in our mirror match as well.

Captain Savage Lusitanians
defeats
Bagatrix, Romans
64:46 Lots of hiding in rough ground, annoying cavalry, and flanking allowed the Lusitanians to scrape a victory. the Legions were relentless and a couple of rallies for the Romans instead of the Lusitanians would have seen a reversal. Desperate stuff at the end trying to kill a veteran legion - those things will not die!

Jtrillodmp (Perssians) defeats Captainwaltersavage (Thracians) 60-43.
My opponent understood better than I did how to make the most of the Thracians and the terrain, and he was hot on my heels throughout the game, making clever use of his cavalry in conjunction with his infantry to outmanoeuvre the Persian troops on numerous occasions. Two very entertaining battles, but next time I face the Persians, I’ll be bringing along a few thousand hoplites in armour!

Maeglyr - Slave Revolt defeats Bagatrix1805 - Galatian
62-52
Far from Rome, in Galatia, there was a great slave revolt. Worn by the days, worn by the nights, they gathered and plundered some garrison to equipped themselves with what they could find.
Quickly, the owners have raised a army to bring their possessions back home. They held council in a forest and came out of it in a massive, united block, surprising the rebels.
The slaves were dispersed in a long line, aware that they could not resist at depth a charge from the over-equipped warriors facing them. Their only hope was an enveloping movement. Overwhelmed them. The enemy’s tactic of concentration disrupted their plans and many units took a long time to reach contact.
Facing the Galatian warriors, a thin line of trained slaves, equipped in the Roman style, suffered the brunt of the assault with full force. They held out long enough to allow a swarm of not-so-well-equipped slaves, still crippled by the aches and pains of their toil, mines and fields, sewers and cobblestones, to use to their advantage a large hill and its wide rocky plateau, to run back on the warbands.
Surrounded, outnumbered and certainly less motivated by the outcome of the battle than the slaves, the galatians yielded, not without having covered the land with piles of bodies, as a warning for future revolts.
Freedom was there, at hand. What will they do with it ?

Solemance's Makkan 890BCE- 313BCE defeats Alexmike1's Babylonian Revolts 522BCE-482BCE 41-11
The Makkan advance with a line of cavalry and Close Combat fighters shielded from Babylonian arrows by a screen of light foot archers and javelinmen. This worked fantastically as the Babylonians wasted many arrows on expendable light foot while the main killing power of the Makkan army was able to reach the Line of Babylonian archers with few losses at which point the Babylonian line swiftly crumbled to dust in only a few turns and they were routed from the field. Only on a high hill on the right did the Babylonians make a solid stand where there were fewer light foot to screen and the Babylonians had placed their best archers armed for close combat and some of the Makkanese units were irregular foot but they couldn't do enough to stem the tide.

Division E
Ironclad (Pontic) defeated hscic (Roman) 44-19
The battlefield was an open plain with some rough patches in the centre. As the Pontics advanced the Romans gradually fell back far enough to leave narrow flanks to the baseline whilst their front was strongly held by the legions. The Pontic cavalry attempted to breach the flanks with their heavy mounted units on the left and light horse on the right side and to provide assistance their left centre infantry supported by cataphracts emerged from the protection of the rough ground and advanced.
The flank attacks were frustrated by an effective Roman defence - with legions supporting the defending cavalry unit on the right soon to be joined by the elephant moving from its central position and on the other flank a Roman cavalry unit with light support beat off the enemy light cavalry. At the same time the Romans launched a major attack along the front relying on the superior quality of their legionary infantry. The Pontic infantry responded helped by the cataphracts on the left and on the right by the rough ground still held by their units on that wing. Supporting lights disrupted the elephant and later fragged it, enabling it to be broken. Despite a tough fight the legions were eventually defeated by the superior enemy numbers, the cataphracts and flank and rear attacks including cavalry breakthroughs.
Thanks to my opponent for a good and entertaining game.

Division E
Ironclad (Roman) defeated hscic (Pontic) 47-19
The battlefield was open with rough areas centrally. As the Roman battleline advanced enemy lights in strength were the only opposition in view. On the Roman left a light cavalry battle commenced with the Pontics later gaining thanks to cavalry reinforcements. Their numbers also gave them an advantage in the skirmishing in the centre. Pontic heavy cavalry were then sighted far back on each flank supported by infantry. The Romans adjusted their advance towards the left to engage the enemy on that side whereupon the Pontics on the other flank including cataphracts moved forward aggressively. This forced the Roman army to divide into two parts to engage the widely separated enemy - with the heavy cavalry and elephant remaining on the right to focus on the advancing cataphracts and supporting units.
The contest thereafter was fought across the field with two main actions and other minor ones. On the right the Romans held the enemy in check and then gained the upper hand thanks to their superior infantry, their elephant and the impact of a flanking attack. Meanwhile the other front was fought in and around a rough area there, with the Pontic infantry and cavalry initially gaining the advantage before the arrival of significant legionary support swung the battle.
Thanks to hscic for another fine game.

Solemnace's Babylonian Revolts 522BCE-482BCE defeats rockmanbob123's Achaemenid Persia 545BCE=481BCE 67-58
A lucky rally and a couple of Auto Breaks were really all that were in it to end the game. The Babylonian only have a single unit of cavalry, two light foot archers, a massed Archer unit, a just rallied back Sparabara foot and 14 mobs who spent the entire game hiding at the back hoping no one would bother them. The last few turns were an exersize in trying to find a way to break enough units with what little fighting ability I have left after Perisan cavalry routed most of my remaining fighting units to win the game and managed to autobreak a couple of Persian horse archers and a unit of camels to finally get over the line after everything capable of fighting had more or less been destroyed.
This list is rubbish. It has very little melee capacity at all and if the archery can't deliver a result doesn't have a lot to offer. But the huge number of required Mobs gives it a surprising amount of endurance which means the useful parts of the list all but fight to the death if you play it well enough. rockmanbob123 may have been better served witha screened Arab Irregular foot line to try and break this list than using a Persian archer list to counter it.

Rockmanbob123's Babylonian Revolts 521BCE-482BCE defeats Solmnance's Achaemenid Persia 545BCE=481BCE

The Babylonian revolt is one of the worst quality lists in the game yet they achieved victory on both sides of the mirror match.
The Babylonians recognizing their weakness sent all of their mobs with archer support onto the mountain top. The Babylonian horse were set up in the far right of the field and played cat and mouse with 6 Sparabara cohorts keeping that infantry out of the main battle. Finally the elite of the Babylonia Revolt, and I use the word elite lightly, were hidden in a swale on the far left of the field and south of the mountain.
As expected the Persians had much and appropriate disdain for the rabble on the hill and drove into the mountain only to get bogged down. The Persian horse attempted a flanking move south of the mountain and ran into the hidden Sparabara infantry arrows and were cauight in an arrow crossfire and routed.....attrition ultimately favored the mob.
