Muromachi Samurai Shieled Archers

Post by Dlauerman »

I'm working on rebasing my Muromachi Samurai for EoD, and came to the line about Retainers behind shields. These look like useful troops, but I'll be hornswoggled if I have any idea what the standing shields ought to look like. Does anyone have any idea here? Rectangular? Round? What?

Good site, however the one's I've seen in historical documents are about half that size. The ones shown there are more seige sized pavises.

Interesting. How are they represented in FoG. Portable defenses?

They are under "Detached followers fighting behind standing shields"

Mine are mounted on supplementary bases which are placed in front said units.

Nik

Where did you find those? Very interesting as I was thinking about these today (for another reason).

Scanned them out of Karl Friday's Samurai book.
