Nijis (Babylonian) defeats Bodhran (Neo-Hittite/Aramean) 62-56.
An extremely close game. Aramean chariots swept aside the Babylonian right, but their infantry finished off the more disciplined but less numerous enemy foot in the center. With their own chariotry all but destroyed, the foot grouped tight to hold off the final Aramean charge.

Chris Townsend's Egyptians 1200 defeat Indibil's Hittite 1275 41 to 7.
The an inappropriately green map had woods on Egyptian left wing and Hittite right wing, and a plateau with some rough in the middle stretching between the two forces. The Hittites went maximum heavy chariots on their right flank, with some irregulars in the right flank woods, half a dozen light chariots on their left, and a mix of infantry in the middle. The Egyptians had some Libyan foot, screened by javelins and supported by early cavalry in their woods, and eight light chariots on their right. an alternating ling of close fighters and massed archers, with a couple of Egyptian guards, filled the middle. As this was anchored in some rough to the left of centre, the Hittite chose to send their heavy chariots across to the other flank. While this was happening, the Egyptians advanced across the entire battle field, and, in the temporary absence of the heavy chariots, ended up initially outnumbering their local opposition. This led to victory on the left and centre, but, despite some initial success, the heavy chariots did make their weight felt on the Egyptian right.
Good game.

Solemnace Sarmatian 350BCE-25CE defeats Indibil Seleucid 205-167 55-29
Seleucid Heavy Cataphracts initially did well in the centre breaking through the line of Sarmatian lancers in front of them. However the Seleucid Elephants were taken out by Sarmatian Javelinmen and the Seleucid left flank was out manuever by the Sarmatian lancers exposing the Seleucid Pikemen to attacks from the front and rear the Seleucid position collapsed.

Chris Townsend's Egyptians 1200 defeat Armchairbaron's Philistine 1166 w/ Syro-Canaanaite 1207 allies 47 to 14.
On an appropriately dry map the Egyptians had woods on their left, some rough on the centre left and woods on the centre right, and some hills reaching forward on their right flank, while the Philistines had a series of enclosures, often behind some rough. Both sides went for a similar mix of troops, with the Egyptians having a few more missile troops and impact infantry, but the Egyptians managed to seize the initiative by deploying all their chariots on their right flank. The Philistines successfully defended their enclosures, especially on their left, but couldn't exploit towards the centre due to the numbers of Egyptian chariots. The story in the centre was quite different, as the Philistine spear could not stop the concentrated Egyptian shock troops, even with some chariot help, essentially deciding the battle.
Good game.

Solemnace Indian (Rajput) 650CE-1049CE defeats alexhstandish German 888-932 with Magyar 54-28
The German with Magyar allies did well on their right defeating most of the Rajput forces in front of them. However on their left and centre the Indians eventually got the upper hand with elephants bursting through the forest to hit the German lines from behind and sending them routing in droves.

Division C
Chris Townsend's Kingdom of Soissons 461 w/ Germanic Foot Tribes defeat Solemnace's Vandal 500 60 to 42.
The map roll was good for the Kingdom, giving what looked like home territory - lots of woods, a difficult hill in the centre, and a nice hill to deploy my heavy infantry on the left flank. The Vandal's (entirely Armoured Noble Lancers) had lots of open space on their side of the map, but, true to form, chose to advance, though cautiously. My only visible troops were my square of heavy infantry (a mix of sub-Roman and frontier legions) supported by a few skirmishers and a few light cavalry. I decided to send my medium infantry marching from the centre (where they had been hidden by a hill) to the extreme left flank as the Vandals threatened to surrounds my large square. As the lancers were about to pounce, I revealed my warbands, a cavalry contingent, and some javelin men, drawing away some Vandal troops and discouraging any thoughts of surrounding the heavy infantry by going over the central hill. The Vandals had to decide how many units to divert, and probably made the right decision as the overall result of that battle was roughly a draw. Meanwhile, after surviving the initial vandal charges, the heavy infantry yielded to a concentrated attack on one corner of the square, but this was countered by the medium infantry, supported by missile fire, emerging out of the woods. So it deteriorated into a scattered confrontations of small groups of heavy infantry and lancers, with equal honours. However, the tendency of cavalry to dash off in all directions when they are victorious eventually led to the field of battle being dominated by the surviving heavy infantry and skirmishers. A very interesting battle!

Chris Townsend's Fatamid Egyptians 1074 w/ Crusader allies defeat Garokan's Polish 1155 with German (NW) allies 63 to 55.
The Poles came wandering to a dry part of the Middle East with and rough in the middle. They found an Egyptian infantry force deployed in rough of their own, backed by artillery, with light horses deployed to outflank the hill, and a mixed cavalry force deployed on the open flank. The Poles convincingly demonstrated their cavalry superiority (with the help of significant missile fire from their own rough) but couldn't hold the hill. The battle rotated around the Egyptian artillery emplacement, which eventually fell. But the cost to the Poles was too great, and they decided to return home to milder climes. A tough battle, with the standard wagon probably keeping the Poles fighting for as long as they did!
