Nice, I'm glad to see that I've finally not made this map for nothingTobi72 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 22, 2026 9:40 pm Well, I have the idea of playing out the Gallic campaign on this map alone. At least I wanted to try it out to see if it could work, so that the player has the feeling of conquering all of Gaul... all of Gaul? No, there is one village...
Well, first I'll remove the railways and airfields. The Romans were quite advanced, but not that far ahead. Then I imagine there were many large forests and swamps at that time, like in Germania, with fields only immediately surrounding the settlements. But first things first. And if it works, I could imagine the same for the Dacian War.
Just a few suggestions, to help you in your modificiation :
- South-East coast was already greek and roman land during Gallic Wars. You could keep and rename cities like Marseille (Massilia), Aix (Aquae Sextiae), Nîmes (Nemausus), Arles (Arelate) and Narbonne (Narbo Martius) ;
- I agree that you should put more forest (but maybe less than in Germania), but there is one exception. The large triangle of forest South-West, along the Atlantic coast from Bordeaux to Bayonne, is artificial. It is the Landes forest, that was created during Napoelon III ; before that it was mainly swamp and clear terrain. I don't think it was forested in the ancient time.
- Well, I'm not against putting a small village of 15 strengh / 5 experience unit of inactive Gallish warriors somewhere in Brittany, in a place that the player have no reason to go, as an hidden easter egg
Would you like me to make a map of Sicily for your future campaigns, directly ready for a Roman conquest?
