March of the Eagles : additional campaigns and content

Post by Imeror »

LAST UPDATE
17/02/2026 : 492 Ab Urbe condita campaign released (link on 1st post)

Hello !

Similar to my side content for Akkula/stormbringer's Modern Conflicts mod, I decided to make addional content (and campaigns, especially) for Tobi's March of the Eagle mod.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, here is a custom music folder that you could use to replace the vanilla Panzer Corps soundtrack of March of the Eagles : https://www.mediafire.com/file/7l3ycjux ... k.rar/file

To install this custom music folder, here is a step by step guide :
1) disactivate the mod with JSGME ;
2) Put the downloaded unzipped "music" folder into the main mod "audio" folder ;
3) Load again March of the Eagles.

And read the credit, you could find something interesting!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, let's talk about the additional campaigns ! I intend add more from time to time.
How to install them ? If you have played my Modern Conflicts side content, it is exactly the same :
1) Download the file.
2) Unzip the folder.
3) Put the folder in My Games/Panzer Corps/mods

To not have an absurdly long first page that contain all my work on the first post (like what my MC topic looks like), I spread my content on next posts.

FIRST PUNIC WAR CAMPAIGNS

This series of campaigns cover the entire First Punic War (-264/-241), year by year.
Each will vary in size, depending on actual events.
You will be able to keep your army from one campaign to another. Your veterans from 490 AUC will be available again in 491 AUC, then 492 AUC, etc... Of course, You could also start the campaign at another date of your choice, if you prefer :)

490 Ab Urbe condita

Image

This campaign cover the first year of the First Punic War (264BC), from the crossing of Messena strait to Echetla sige.
Side : Rome
Length : 8 scenarios.
Link : https://www.mediafire.com/file/o7k4zvxd ... C.rar/file

491 Ab Urbe condita

Image

This campaign cover the second year of the First Punic War (263BC), with the peace negitiations between Rome and Syracuse.
Side : Rome
Length : 3 scenarios.
Link : https://www.mediafire.com/file/loj1734h ... C.rar/file

492 Ab Urbe condita

Image

This campaign cover the third year of the First Punic War (262BC), with the siege and battle of Agrigentum.
Side : Rome
Length : 8 scenarios.
Link : https://www.mediafire.com/file/3meo4y0g ... C.rar/file

Some words about my methodology :
Sources about those events are somewhat rare and rarely precise. Most ancient historians didn't participate to the events they talk about and usually report what other people say to them. This can lead to contradictory statements.
Polybe for example wrote that Romans captured Echetla, while another (I don't remember who) explain that they tried but had to withdraw.

When I had to make choices between different stories, I choose the one that made the best choice in a gameplay perspective.
Echetna ? Of course we'll assault it ! We play Panzer Corps, we want to conquer things ! :lol:
Another example : it is unclear how the Romans crossed the strait. One say that the consul stole a carthaginian boat to transport its troops, another that Rome allies gave boats while Carthaginians decided to not attack them to maybe avoid a war.
I decided a 3rd choice : use of a particularly bad weather to cross the strait while no one could see it.
A fun little "infiltration mission", like what I do sometimes in Modern Conflicts :lol:

About the scenarios, I'll follow a different philosophy.
Some will be battles and will requiere the player to face head-on an enemy army on a small part of a map, other will be "march scenario", where the player can loot the map to gather prestige points while he reach his objectives. I don't intend to put as much "special" scenarios like what I do in my Modern Conflicts additional contents.
The goal is to be close to how warfare was in the ancient time, so no breakthrough on a 500 kilometers front for weeks, but intense but somewhat short battles or long road to control the territory and march towards the enemy.

It start with a "special scenario", but it will not be the majority of scenario I will do for March of the Eagles.

All is said, have fun :mrgreen:

Hey Imeror, what are you planning here? Are you trying to take my job away? :lol: :lol:

I played the first two missions. Short and violently. I really enjoyed them. In the second scenario, I almost lost my experienced elite unit. So keep an eye on your flanks. :!:

I can't take your job, I don't have enouth knowledge about the game to do as much things as you :lol:
To create scenarios is easy ; but if we add the icons creation, the balance of the stats of units in several rosters, the new custom tiles (by the way, more ancient town tiles and walls to put around them could be cool), etc... that's a big level above :lol:

I will watch the replay(s) with care ; as with my MC contents, I 'm always not sure about the quantity of prestige points the player should have.

And what's next ?

I will continue to do campaigns about the First Punic War : 1 mini-campaign for each year.
Of course, not all campaigns will have the same size. The next year (-263 : or 491 in roman calendar) is only know to be the year that saw Syracuse change its alliance under roman pressure. Carthage is still gathering its troops and Rome absolutely need to focus on Syracuse to secure a really strong position in Sicilia, so actions will be limited.
I'll thus do only 2 or 3 scenarios to represent said roman pressure. It will also be the opportunity for the player to rack up prestige points for the year -262 and the long siege of Agrigente, that will requiere more than 2 scenarios and will be made to drain player ressources :mrgreen:

You were working on a huge map of France, is it finished? Perhaps you could let me use them; I would like to try something out. :idea:

It is still in an unpolished state, but it should be a good basis. Are we going into a Gallic Wars grand scenario ? :lol:

If anyone else need it, don't hesitate to take it.

Things to note :
- I used maps of France and intended to not let the player go outside modern borders of the country (since it was designed as a civil war scenario), so everything outside is approximative and barely done ;
- I may had the hand heavy on the rivers in some region. Depending on what you intend to do, some may be removed. If you prefer to have many chokepoint, it will be perfect :lol: ;
- I put no "countryside" tiles at that point, only "clear" ones ;
- I didn't have the patience to depict every town perfectly, so I used a simple model for cities : small town are only 1 hex big ; metropolis are 7 hexes big ; Paris is 23 hexes big (10% of the total population live there, it is a very big town). If you intend to make an ancient scenarios, some already existed (with other names) during the Antiquity, but it would be necessary to check one by one ;
- the port I placed are only the military ones ;
- Same thing for the airfield ;
- I just generated the tiles and didn't change anything manually.

Well, I have the idea of playing out the Gallic campaign on this map alone. At least I wanted to try it out to see if it could work, so that the player has the feeling of conquering all of Gaul... all of Gaul? No, there is one village...

Well, first I'll remove the railways and airfields. The Romans were quite advanced, but not that far ahead. Then I imagine there were many large forests and swamps at that time, like in Germania, with fields only immediately surrounding the settlements. But first things first. And if it works, I could imagine the same for the Dacian War.

I installed this chapter and was very surprised that it wasn't in Russian ) Damn Tower of Babel ))) I was even more surprised when I was offered to take someone from my core from previous battles ) After I agreed, I ended up with an armoured train from the Second World War in my core ) I understand that Soviet people are peaceful people, but our armoured train is always ready on the sidings, but seeing it in ancient Rome is a bit strange ))) True, I now have more than 4,000 prestige points ))) I hope there are rails there to crush the legions )))

P.s.
Although it could be sold ))) I wonder how much prestige it could fetch if a pack of slaves costs 150 )))

Image
No information was found suggesting that armoured trains can be considered time machines. However, there is information about the role of armoured trains in history. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Woah, what is happening ???
The player is supposed to start without units in reserve (even less an armored train) but 15 units on naval transport !

Is anyone else have this problem ? It could help me understand what cause it.
Since Tobi's replays were normal, I didn't expected someone could have any problem.

I have a few theories :
- Chance are ridiculously low, but maybe my GUID generated was already taken by another campaign. So low it's hard to believe, but who know :lol: ;
- you didn't have a clean copy of panzer corps. Maybe you installed other things in it, and said things are into opposition with the mod and linked custom campaign ;
- March of the Eagles use Modern Conflicts as a base ; maybe you have the russian translation of MC and it also enter in oppositon with some files I use in this custom campaign.

Few solutions I would try :
- Just say "no" when the game ask you to continue with an already existing core (I'm 99.9% sure it will work) ;
- Check nothing is installed on vanilla folder of Panzer Corps ;
- Put the game in English.
