Maybe there's a new comp format here - the FoG equivalent to DBA? Max 6 BGs and 2 "personality" generals. Mano o mano.

Having been thinking about it, although it's a legal army (the Later Polish), I'm not sure it should count. Using FF and maxed-out generals seems to much of a fiddle, as Hammy says. The 5BG Navarrese or Normans seem more "correct" - I think Later Teutonic also, if I remember correctly.

Some limiting criteria needed here?

smallest army

How about : standard array of generals (IC, 3 x TC, since this is reasonably used )
and no feild fortifications (since most of these armys are principally mounted.

fortified camp ok (pretty much fits the theme as no one will be sitting to defend it)

i can get a five with these restrictions

Ic, 3 x TC

4 x 12 HF, sup, prot, drilled, heavy waepon
1 x 10 HF sup prot, drilled, heavy weapon

pre 1422 swiss

Well spotted, I hadn't noticed the Swiss. Not often you get expensive foot in big BGs. You could also do

IC, FC, 2TC
5x12 HF

to get 800AP. Although I think a Fortified Camp is probably a must at this level of BGs!

With current carry on rules etc, tempting to take the Navarrese army to Athens. :)
