I think it was solved by doing a clean, separate install.
I received the crc error on a fresh install of the Gog version of Panzer Corps Gold .

non-galaxy installation
on the bottom line i see " version 1.31 ( May 11 2018 ) "
in the folder : PanzerCorps exe size is 1 387 304 bytes and the ScenarioEditor.exe size is 749 352 bytes
edit: the size of the UI folder is 105 121 485 bytes
