This is the concept of this type of campaign sold at a small price.
It is not necessarily the number of scenarios that makes the length of the campaign but also the size of the maps comes in the length of the campaign.
sure, but that in no way persuades me to not be disappointed the campaign is so short.

Second that. I sometimes find really big, 32 turn maps exhausting. They have their place; I love the Ebro scenario in SCW and think it one of the best in all of AO, but one big long scenario after another, after another, and another...is tiresome. I much prefer a mix of medium and big maps/scenarios than 9 marathon scenarios in a row, if that's indeed going to be the case. Everyone has their opinions and they are all valid.

I will freely recommend the AO-Redone mode campaign by Andrea for advanced/experienced players. He is upgrading it again by reworking most maps, adding scenarios to most years, and more. He is mid-war at this point but it feels like a new experience altogether. That's how drastic the changes/improvements are. Same goes for Storm Over Europe and Panzer 1 GC Remake.

Why I bring this up is because his most resent updated campaign, I think 1943, isn't much or any longer than the vanilla. However, the changes to the maps themselves and overall redesign have made them much longer and bigger in most cases. Some took me days to play, in part because I didn't have time to sit for 5 hours straight.

So when I say giant, long scenarios are not always my cup of tea, I speak from some experience. If you do enjoy mega scenarios, then you may want to check them out. But of course, results may vary.

As far as the new Guards DLC, time will tell. I'm sure I will still like it, but I may be, once again, left wanting for more.

One of the ways to make the linear succession of scenarios less boring is to set up branching which allows replayability.

The big battles last several days so playing a big scenario over several days is more realistic.

Yes, I can understand that perspective, but I still would want more scenarios.

I actually never have liked branches in campaigns because it reduces the total number of scenarios. Each playthrough I want the campaign to be as long as possible, not 20 scenarios but the longest path is 12. Otherwise I always feel like I am missing out no matter which path I take.

I know this isn't a popular point of view with most players, but it is one that I have always held since PC1 even.
