The Pontic infantry line (stiffened by cataphracts and height advantage) survived long enough for the cavalry to do their work and roll the Roman flanks.

2B: oscarius (Roman) beats frederic02 (Pontic) 17 - 42

The Roman legions met their Pontic imitators in a direct line. The eastern copycat legions proved no match for the real deal while the dangerous Pontic cavalry was kept on the margins through elephants, raw legionaries and ballista fire.

Both battles found the Romans taking an awkward shaped central hill; needing both armies to engage in light skirmish hand fighting to jockey for better position.. both battles were tricky (especially for the Romans due to their innate lack of numbers compared to the Germanic Foot.) Thank you to my opponent. This battle was a challenge. GG!
